Does any one else think that Georgian Bay Rocks!? The Bay has some unique rock formations that are direct results from the last glacial period. Granite is now left exposed as the glaciers picked up and deposited boulders, large amounts of soil and seeds leaving some islands a rich diverse ecosystem and others barren exposed rock. While out looking for your perfect camp site always keep in mind wind and sun protection. Finding trees with a well established root system provide a great shelter for all weather conditions.

2013. By far the wildest summer of my life. Took a work placement in the expedition industry to help complete my study's at college. 4 months on Baffin Island,... snowmobiling, boating, ATVing, helicopter rides, camping on ice, polar bears, narwhal, seals and a whole new world of culture. I was sent further north to help disenable a base camp at the flow edge. I was above the Arctic circle for my first time and no more than 24 hours and the peice of ice the camp was set up on had broken free from the fast ice (ice attached to land) 3km X 3km mesured by a circling Hercules. As rain fell the top of the ice was detearating quickly. We drilled relief holes in the ice to drain the water. Starting out the width of a standard ice auger these holes became dangerous whirlpools large enough to swallow a human. We floated towards the north west passage for 36 hours. Eventually touching land so we could evacuate our floating island. Being rescued by the Canadian Military a day later Shout out to the brave men and women who risked there lives to ensure we all got reduced and made it back to civilization safely. All of the camp was recovered the follow week, we packed up sling loads and a helicopter dropped the gear in land to be recovered in the summer by boat. I have to say that summer has been a hard one to top. My love for adventure and thill had a new president after this experience.
