Parent/Guardians are required to respond for every student living in their household. Students who are graduating and heading to college/university are not required to answer the question. The Ontario Public School Board Association - Public Property Assessment Network Scholarship: Western Region, 2019-20 School Year - The Public Property Assessment Network Scholarship, in the amount of $1,000 to one recipient in the Ontario Public School Boards’ Association’s (OPSBA) Western Region, is being awarded. Hey GAELS! Report Cards were emailed home this afternoon and will require you to enter your OEN (Ontario Education Number) to access. Your OEN is located on previous report cards or in the Parent and Student Portals. If you cannot find your OEN number please call Mrs. Brooks at 519-287-3310 ext 67692 or Mrs. Harvie at ext. 67696 and they will share it with you. Hey Graduating GAELS! OHF Scholarship - The Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF) Scholarship was introduced in 1997 to recognize and reward dedication in education and hockey. The program provides financial assistance to registered OHF participants to offset the cost of post-secondary education. Since its inception, the OHF has distributed more than $450,000 to over 400 post-secondary students. Each year, the OHF awards scholarships to outstanding young people who display an incredible amount of commitment both at the arena and in the classroom. The bursary recipients are determined on the basis of academic achievements, hockey involvement and community involvement. Hey GAELS! Town and Country Mutual Insurance Scholarship - This award is offered annually to graduating students whose parents or legal guardians are policyholders with HT&C Mutual Insurance Company. The scholarships are to assist post-secondary studies at a university or community college. Up to eight $500 awards will be made available with the stipulation that only one award will be given per school. The student must be a graduating student who has demonstrated a significant commitment to school and community service. Apply here. Hey GAELS! Monday, November 16th is the Quadmester Turnaround Day which gives teachers time to submit Quadmester 1 Marks, lesson plan and prepare their classrooms for Quadmester 2. Hey GAELS! Ms. Allen’s Grade 11 University Biology class (SBI3U) worked on their fetal pig dissections earlier this week. The dedication and effort put forth by these students was Level 4! Great work Emma F, Gracen C, Mallory W, Janelle T, Lana G and Morgan H! Mallory W fetal pig's digestive tract was over 3.22m! Longest digestive tract in Mr. Broderick’s 16 years at GDHS!

Hey GAELS! Credit Improvement/Recovery/Rescue appointments are available with your teacher. Students may make one-on-one appointments with their teachers on the following days for Credit Improvement, Credit Rescue or Credit Recovery (in person or online). Students are not required to attend class on this day. This is a time for students to hand in missing assignments or to talk to their teacher on ways to improve their mark. Hey GAELS! Health and Physical Education students had a chance to enjoy some warm weather and fresh air over the past few days with some disc golf and pitch and chip golf. Students had input into the design of their 9-hole course on the back field and then had a chance to practice their disc golf and chipping skills throughout the day. GREAT WORK GAELS!
