Did you know that if you are making your own lash cleanser rather than purchasing a commercial-grade, ph balanced cleanser for your clients, you can be causing... harm to the corneas according to optometrists? This includes a well know brand some lash techs are using to mix their own concoction to give to clients. Another product being used is "baby shampoo" which is formulated with a numbing agent and was never intended and is not to be used for cleansing eyes or lashes. This comes straight from Johnson & Johnson when we contacted them. Also when you pre-mix any solution intended for use to clients, you then become solely liable concentrates are not safe to use around the eyes and homemade solutions must have preservatives added, or it will breed bacteria. You may not know it, but you will personally be responsible, for anything that shall occur to the client's eyes by using something you made using ingredients from your kitchen. That homemade shampoo is not a professional-grade product and requires certifications and approvals by the FDA and Health Canada. These homemade products are hard on lash extensions. Best to wait in your car otherwise. Be courteous - turn off or silence your cell phone during your appointment. Please do not bring children or pets. I will not allow guests of any sort. Remove all make-up and moisturizers prior to your appointment. Wash your lashes within 20 minutes of your appointment when possible. Wear comfortable clothing to make the most of this time for relaxation and comfort. Contacts must be removed prior to your appointment to prevent irritation from the fumes. Fumes can get trapped under your contact lenses. Avoid caffeinated drinks - you will want to be relaxed. The last thing I want is you jittering while I lash you- this will affect retention. Precise application happens when you are still. It is also recommended you use the restroom prior to your appointment, getting up mid appointment lessons the time we have together as I have timed slots. Keep talking to a minimum during your appointment especially if your eyes can’t be still. Do not chew gum as the moving can cause the eye pad to move into your eye, and you move too much Do not talk with your hands please this moves the entire bed and I’ve got tweezers in my hands it’s not safe. Cross and uncrossing your legs - it affects my lashing - at times I’ve lost upwards of 30 minutes due to the constant moving and restlessness.
