Today marks the Transgender Day of Remembrance, which honours the memory of transgender people whose lives have been lost in acts of anti-transgender violence. To quote Transgender Day of Remembrance founder Gwendolyn Ann Smith: "Transgender Day of Remembrance seeks to highlight the losses we face due to anti-transgender bigotry and violence. I am no stranger to the need to fight for our rights, and the right to simply exist is first and foremost. With so many seeking to erase transgender people -- sometimes in the most brutal ways possible -- it is vitally important that those we lose are remembered, and that we continue to fight for justice."

October 11th is National Coming Out Day in the U.S., marked on the anniversary of the 1987 National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights. We celebrate the LGBTQ+ community, recognising that, even today, it's not always safe or easy to be publicly out. When you're ready, we're here. You are loved!

He recently led his work team to victory in an industry walk off competition and instead of accepting his prize, he asked Bearcom to make a donation to the society! The Grande Prairie Pride Society has made the difficult decision to postpone its main events until June 2021. While we were hopeful that we could put them on next month, concerns about travel and attendance restrictions mean it is impossible to host our Party in White, teen dance, and family carnival as planned. While our major events have been postponed, we are still excited to put on Pride week in Grande Prairie this November. Barring any major changes, we are planning a fa...mily event on November 14th, and have a number of activities in the works for the week leading up to it. We are also hoping to involve as much of the community as possible during that week, while keeping physical distancing in mind. We are asking local organizations and businesses to get involved in their own way, whether it be by hanging a Pride flag in their window, running specials, hosting their own Pride-friendly event, or something else of their own creation.
