'Tis the Season for Giving and Spreading Love and Kindness! A great big thank you to our Secret Santa!!!
Less than 2 weeks away...
The Province of Manitoba has extended the Code Red Lockdown until January 8th but loosened one key restriction. There will be no gatherings allowed in houses, ...the five person rule remains outside of private homes... but drive in events will now be allowed. Those drive in events include Church Services and Christmas Light displays. Anyone hosting such an event is responsible for ensuring no person leaves their vehicle and failure to do so is punishable by a fine - vehicles can only contain those people that live in the same house. The Province is adding Christmas Decorations and School Supplies to the essential items list. Thrift stores are allowed to open. The actual legal orders are not yet written but will be available from the province soon - the full details of each restriction will be contained in them. Changes do not come into effect until Saturday.

We are very happy to have these new vans for our agency! Our old ones have done us well, but we are all grateful for the upgrade!
Its a bit of a read, but well worth it. This article highlights the systemic issue adults with autism, among other life long intellectual disabilities, are facing regarding proper supports and care into adulthood. Their disabilities don't go away when they reach adulthood, but too often, their supports do.
There are a few spots remaining in this course. Cost will be determined by number of registrants.
The skills here are amazing!
Remember your parents using the phrase "This is what we're eating, if you don't want it, then you obviously aren't hungry enough"? Maybe they never did, but I know mine did, and I've used it myself. This is pretty much the same thing - only on a hugely serious scale. Without addressing the fundamental issues of access to disability services, access to home care, health care, and palliative services, how can we make such incredibly important decisions?
Journey For Sight receipts for donations $10 and up, can be picked up at 221 Roland - the Admin offices behind the Bakeshop
Exactly! Love this! Celebrate the differences, don't see them as problems that need 'fixing'
Well, this would be interesting. Early diagnosis is so important.
From everyone here at GGI - , Veseloho Rizdva, Merry Christmas!
From all of us here at Grandview Gateways, have a Merry Christmas and an amazing holiday Season with those you hold dear!
Every year, The Friendly Corner Bakeshop hosts the riders from The Journey For Sight, and 2020 will be no different! January 17th should see quite a bit of sled traffic in front of the shop!

"At a time where we're dealing with a mental health crisis in our province this isn't the time to be cutting. We're going backwards. This province should be investing in people who are dealing with mental health issues not less." Liberal Leader Dougald Lamont said one of the most common complaints he gets is about the province's social assistance program. "Manitoba's social assistance is some of the most sadistic programs anywhere in Canada they're completely underfunded. Some of them haven't changed in 27 years."
