It has been a very trying time for patients and dentists alike. The emergency guidelines that were mandated, set a very restrictive scope of practice. In some cases it left patients in a position where their condition had to worsen until they would meet the threshold of "Emergency". These were obviously unprecedented measures set during unprecedented times and were far from the ideals we strive toward within the medical profession. While we are still restricted from carrying out definitive and final treatment in many cases, we are now able to mitigate further deterioration and relieve discomfort. We are still adhering to strict physical distancing and risk reduction strategies. To that effect we are still seeing patients by appointment only, avoiding overlapping appointments, pre-screening for risk factors, among many other strategies.
