They switched to brewing with only organic ingredients by the early 1990s.As the world’s first organic brewery, Pinkus Müller uses 60% organic w...heat and 40% organic malted barley in its Organic Hefe-Weizen, a Weizen/Weissbier. Introducing........Lindemans Oude Gueuze Cuvée René. It’s is a traditionally produced lambic-gueuze style of beer brewed by brouwerij Lindemans located in Vlezenbeek near Brussels. An ancient beer style, Gueuze, or Geuze, (pronounced "GOO-za") is wild-fermented wheat beer that is made with only aged hops, and those in small quantities. This old gueuze is a blend of old and young lambic matured in large oak barrels called foudres. It is then bottled in a beautiful champagne... bottle where a second fermentation takes place. After 6 months, the gueuze obtains a golden colour and is slightly carbonated and tart. But kept in a cellar for a few years, it becomes truly exceptional! Served as an aperitif Lindemans Oude Gueuze Cuvée René was elected the World's Best Gueuze at the 2013 World Beer Awards. Introducing the Pauwel Kwak!!! In the 18th century there was a very well-known brewer in the Dendermonde area named Pauwel Kwak. He brewed his own beer, which was dark and heavy. He also had a coaching inn on the road between Mechelen and Gent, where the mail coaches used to stop for a break. In those days, the Napoleonic Code ruled that coach drivers were forbidden to drink beer with their passengers and so they were not allowed to leave the coach to quench their thirst. Pau...wel Kwak invented an efficient solution to this problem by offering the famous Kwak beer in a special glass that could be fixed to the carriage, so the drivers could also enjoy one. This story inspired a brewer from nearby Buggenhout and since the 1980s the Pauwel Kwak is brewed by Brouwerij Bosteels, which also produces the popular Tripel Karmeliet. The Pauwel Kwak has a deep amber colour. When poured correctly, it forms a lovely firm head. Served in the distinctive Kwak 'Koetsiersglas' with its convex bottom, which sits in a wooden stand. It is very likely the most distinctive beer glass in Belgium!!! Pairs well with our 6oz Angus Beef Burger with crispy bacon, caramelized onions, fried mushrooms, pickles on a Brioche Bun & crispy fries. Leffe Blonde is a Blonde Ale - Belgian style beer brewed by Abbaye de Leffe S.A. in Dinant, Belgium. Featured this week with our house made Butter Chicken platter. The abbey of Leffe was founded in 1152 on the Meuse River in the province of Namur in southern Belgium. Like many monasteries across Europe, the Premonstratensian (Norbertine) canons of the abbey brewed ale, starting in 1240. Using knowledge passed from generation to generation and ingredients found in the wild near the abbey, the canons developed a unique ale with a subtle taste and high alcohol content, brewed only at the abbey.
