He was able to present to about thirty people the types of financing available as well as the steps to complete the application process. Among the financed constructions this summer, ABSCAN is proud to present the one of Geneviève and Gabriel from the Wôlinak community! Since the very beginning of their construction planning, they focus on the efficiency and energy performance and they have learned goods tips about it on the Écohabitation website. In addition to having welcomed their first child during the construction vacation, they will soon be able to enjoy their new home, the most energy efficient one financed to date by ABSCAN!

In January, the Cree Nation Governement Board Council presented is new private housing initiative. The program would now be divided in two programs, one for social and rental housing and another fot private home ownership. We have made the area of housing a major priority for the Cree Nation, Grand Chief Abel Bosum said in his summit speech. This housing strategy has enormous potential for stimulating our local Cree economies while, at the same time, creating employment and solving a number of persistent social issues related to overcrowding.. In view of the recommendations of the Canadian and Quebec authorities regarding COVID-19, ABSCAN and NCCC would like to inform you that our offices are still open, but that measures are being taken to reduce the risk of contagion. Face-to-face meetings, events and travel are cancelled. We are always available by phone, email or video conference. ABSCAN was in Innu territory at the beginning of March! We were able to see the progress of the work on a semi-detached house and the extent of the renovations carried out on two houses in Ekuanitshit! We also took the time to meet with our clients who are planning to build as soon as the snow melts, in the communities of Maliotenam and Uashat. #ABSCANOnTheRoad

In Pakua Shipi and Unamen Shipu, many young can now get carpentry certification without leaving the community. The Innu company Mitshuap offers the training in collaboration with the communities, which then allows the construction of houses on the territory. #FirstNationsHousing
