Behind the slightly opened door of Leave the Light On we find a woman reading by candlelight in quiet solitude. Within our walls there are untold stories that haunt us. With the gentle curve of the staircase, I incorporate the feminine with the masculinity of the structure of the building. The soul of the work is revealed behind the door and by the bird perched on the railing. This was the first time I have placed an image of a person within a work of art. A woman..The work... is inspired by a number of things close to me: my love of books, my comfort with solitude, and my intrigue with elusiveness; the woman is there, you cannot see her without looking behind the door. The bird is perhaps the soul of it, for it is in Nature that I find solace, that I replenish my spirit, and I return home. -This work is available for purchase.
