Monday October 5 Orient light up Punishers twice The Punishers were missing in action Monday night falling twice to the hands of the Orient. C.Levesque had a strong showing dominating both games notching five goals and two assists .Goals just kept piling on, and the Punishers had no answers on how to stop the bleeding. In addition to C.Levesque’s influence in the two games, E.Harnois was just as lethal setting up six goals while adding a pair himself. The Punishers had a str...Continue reading

Friday October 2 (4)The Family vs Chiefs(7) Chiefs rally with 6 unanswered goals in come-from behind win over Family Having to play with no changes was the Family’s undoing on Friday night. However, things only started to go sour for the Family by the third period where the Chiefs finally connected to gain control of the match. Perhaps the biggest moment occurred when E.Capalbo snapped a hard low wrist shot to beat M.Freda. That that tally came in a shorthanded situation to p...ut the Chiefs up by two. You never want to give up an unfortunate bounce, but the Family didn’t dwell on it knowing they put up a great challenge. M.Braun and M-A Daaha each scored twice in the loss while the Chiefs got scoring contributions-from six different players. (7)Bramabulls vs Devil Dawgz(8) J.Constantin lights fire posting three late markers In the latter minutes of the third period, J.Constantin did the unthinkable, netting three late goals in what was a dramatic finish for the Devil Dawgz. Putting it mildly, this was a crazy and wacky game between the two sides. Both teams were good at scoring but horrible when playing without the ball. It was one of those games that needed every single second in order to see who would pull through. Luckily enough for the Devil Dawgz, the bounces went there way. J.Constantin scored late in the first period before haunting the Bramabulls on three late markers that included the final dagger with less than five seconds remaining. Overall, just a lot of stuff going around with plenty of turning points. Definitely not a formula you want to use heading into the playoffs. (2)Pylons vs HBHA Seniors(3) O.T M.Pololos buries OT winner in gritty battle with Pylons The Pylons came into Friday nights game with plenty of concern knowing that they had a 30 foot wall in front of them. They had to deal with only two changes ups while going up against an army. For most of the game however, the Pylons employed a plan that was tailor made to slow down their opponent. They nearly executed to perfection only to have an overtime goal make the difference in the final result. The HBHA did dictate much of the pace by coming out hard to fore check the Pylons. One of their problems was that O.Caillet was occupying the net for the Pylons. The net minder was simply lights out frustrating the HBHA players throughout the entire night. Eventually, they did get their break when M.Pololos found himself at the right spot to bury his chance. The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Joseph Constantin of the Devil Dawgz. Known more for his hard work and grit, J.Constantin surprised not only his teammates but himself as well by riffling three late goals to cap off a dramatic win for the Devil Dawgz. See more

Thursday October 1 (Final) Assadi Consulting Inc shut down a lethal Buckshot’s offense to capture title The tightly contested match took more than regulation for a winner in game one, as both teams traded chances in a break-neck back- and-forth that saw outstanding goaltending and plenty of scoring opportunities at both ends of the court. When game one concluded, R.Fortin and J.Mandracchia came through in the shootouts while P.Assadi shined brilliantly denying both attempts. ...The Assadi Consulting Inc couldn’t have asked for a better start in the ensuing game when R.Fortin quickly got them on board. The Buckshots had more than enough time for a response but found themselves in a little trouble trying to kill off some penalty minutes. Eventually, they killed it off and regained some momentum only to see great opportunities go to waste. As much as they kept pressing for the equaliser, P.Assadi stayed strong to keep it a one goal game. There was only so much the Buckshots could have done if not for hitting the iron and missing a wide open net. It was just one of those nights between two evenly matched teams. But credit to the Assadi Consulting Inc who did nearly everything right when it counted the most. Every single player bought into playing for one another which involved all areas of the game. Defensively they were sound, offensively they connected on many plays, and perhaps most important of all, the goaltending was outstanding. P.Assadi was clearly ready for the challenge making enough difficult saves in order to keep his club confident. Overall, a great final that could have gone either way. On behalf of Hockeyballe.com, congratulations go out to Pedram Assadi and the rest of the Assadi Consulting Inc for capturing the Thursday 4vs4 division. (3)Buckshots vs Assadi Consulting Inc(5) S.O Game 1 (2)Assadi Consulting Inc vs Buckshots(0) Game 2 The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Pedram Assadi of the Assadi Consulting Inc. After collecting another shootout win in game one, P.Assadi went on to shut out a lethal offense in game two to merit the honour. See more

Monday September 28 Classics simply outmatched to Orient The Classics knew if they were to have any sort of chance versus the Orient, plenty of factors were required. Starting-from their net minder, getting started on time and playing as a whole in both zones. Unfortunately, the Classics didn’t bring any of those elements suffering two lopsided losses. The Orient were clearly the superior team throughout the entire two games making the Classics chase them most of the night. ...The addition of M.David didn’t help matters either. After collecting six points that included a hat trick in the opening game, M.David wasn’t done yet adding four more points to make an immediate impact for the Orient. Even though it was an inter league game, the Classics had nothing to show for on this night. (8)Orient vs The Classics(1) (0)The Classics vs Orient(6) Evenly matched Degenerates , 1 Timer settle for a pair of draws If the regular season is any indication, the 1 Timer and the Degenerates are very evenly matched as both sides settled for two straight draws. It wasn’t like one side edged out the other at any point during the night. In all four combined periods that involved both games, neither team ever came out with the lead. And adding to that, the shootout also ended in a stalemate. A.Desrosiers scored twice and added a shootout marker for the Degenerates while D.Greco participate in all four goals that also included one in the shootouts. As for the 1 Timer, it was your usual suspects leading the way up front. T.Daigneault and P-A Surprenant created most of the offense combining with eight points. (2)1 Timer vs Degenerates(2) S.O (4)Degenerates vs 1 Timer(4) S.O LG HC shake slow start in split with Punishers Eventually, urgency kicked in for the LG HC, who looked flatter than an expired open can of soda. The Punishers had the better approach, coming out ready pounding their opponent on five first period goals showing plenty of energy. P.Arkalis kick started the offense collecting three points in only four minutes. If the LG HC took any lessons heading into the second game, it clearly didn’t show as they fell quick and early conceding three tallies. However, they finally got it right and salvaged their night needing only one solid period. There is too much pride for a team that had a full roster with nothing to show for. The LG HC felt that things would eventually turn around, and that was the case in the last frame when the light switch turned on. Four different players chipped in the scoring while M.Griffith kept the Punishers in check between the pipes. And while the end result may have felt reassuring for the LG HC, some may have suggested that the Buckshots click had a major influence for the comeback. (2)LG HC vs Punishers(6) (3)Punishers vs LG HC(5) The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Matthew David of the Orient. Already surrounded in a deep line up, the new addition tore apart the Classics defense collecting ten points. See more

Friday September 25 (8)Brewers vs Templars(1) Templars outnumbered in thumping loss to Brewers The Brewers really took it to the Templars on Friday night, especially taking advantage of a really short bench. They rolled more than twice the Templars players and showed no signs of a drop off. The impact was substantial as of the mid way pint of the first period. After netting three quick goals, the Templars knew they couldn’t match the tempo and pace the Brewers threw at them. ...Continue reading

Thursday September 24 (Semi finals) Assadi Consulting Inc make it two shootout wins in a row to advance The Assadi Consulting Inc were two for two but the hard way in order to edge out a resilient Fatal Demons squad. After securing game one thanks to J.Mandracchia’s lone shootout marker, the Assadi Consulting Inc staged a desperate comeback where they pressed their luck once more in the breakaways. Three times they were down, and three times they managed to overcome their d...eficits. The Fatal Demons looked to even the series after surging on three unanswered goals only to see it slip away. And despite grabbing two more leads, six seconds was all that was left when J.Courteau buried his second in order to force the extra time. E.Chidak was far-from having an easy night as the net minder was bombarded with shots throughout the entire two games. Despite how effective he was however for the Fatal Demons, the shootouts just didn’t go his way. It doesn’t help either when a team has the luxury of sending some highly skilled talent such as D.Desmarais and J.Mandracchia. Both players came through on brilliant plays using their incredible skill set to beat Chidak while P.Assadi excelled stopping a total of five straight shootout attempts. Clearly, it wasn’t an easy night for either team as both sides came ready to play in a series that could have gone either way. (2)Fatal Demons vs Assadi Consulting Inc(3) S.O Game 1 (7)Assadi Consulting Inc vs Fatal Demons(5) S.O Game 2 Buckshots banish Horsemen to move on The Buckshots resembled a refreshed team eager to play unlike the Horsemen that looked game weary. As soon as M.Destounis broke the ice, the Buckshots never looked back in this series. They secured there spot to the final on a pair of fairly easy wins. The Horsemen knew they had to keep them at bay but couldn’t contain the Buckshots forward depth chart. There offense is littered with natural snipers making it very difficult for any opponent to contain. Unless C.Stavriadis stole the show, there chances remained slim. There is only so much one player can do. Unfortunately for the Horsemen, it just wasn’t there night. K.Kavan and Y.Derohannessian scored three goals each, S.Morante had no issues dealing with the pressure in net, and the Buckshots were simply overpowering on this particular night. (5)Buckshots vs Horsemen(2) Game 1 (2)Horsemen vs Buckshots(6) Game 2 The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Pedram Assadi of the Assadi Consulting Inc. The goaltender picked the perfect time this season in order to flash during two shootout games. The Thursday 4vs4 division is now down to its last two teams. There are many similarities between the Buckshots and the Assadi Consulting Inc. Both teams can score, create offense-from the back end and challenge one another between the pipes. Expect a high scoring series with lots of high risk plays. One things for sure, it wont be fun for either goaltender. See more

Monday September 21 Rusty 1 Timer out matched vs LG HC It really cannot be overstated how rusty the 1 Timer looked on Monday night versus the LG HC. Balls kept bouncing through them, the defense had little help and the offense struggled to connect on their plays. Things mercifully ended in a landslide of both games. The LG HC have known each other a little too long, so long that it felt like riding a bike after years without trying. Nobody missed a beat-from their end as goal...s came by committee. Payam Assadi did lead the way in that area striking five times in two games while N.Kokovidis had the luxury of setting up lots of talent-from the back end resulting in six assists. The LG HC, like everyone else has been out of action for a while, but tonight they showed no signs of a let down in their attempt to make a push for the playoffs. (2)1 Timer vs LG HC(6) (9)LG HC vs 1 Timer(2) Orient lay the hammer on Excalibur The Orient took out their frustration on Monday night after a disappointing outing only a week ago ,and unfortunately the Excalibur had to pay the price. They had all areas of their game dominate the Excalibur. There offense was running on all cylinders, the defense was sound and E.Paradis stopped all but one orange ball his way. It showed that everyone took accountability as the Orient look to strive for bigger and better things to come. A.Sayed sparked up some of the offense with five helpers and the captain F.Nasser led the way with a productive three goal night. (0)Excalibur vs Orient(5) (4)Orient vs Excalibur(1) The SalumiVino player of the night goes to F.Nasser of the Orient. Leading by example, the captain made sure his club was ready collecting three goals while sending a clear message that his club means business in the weeks to come. See more

Monday September 21 (Final division 2) Degenerates score 2 quick goals to shift series and claim championship What a way to turn things around. With just over a minute remaining in game one, the Degenerates trailed 2-1 and it looked like the Classics would have taken a strangle hold in the series. It took only 25 seconds for the deficit to turn into a late lead thanks to who other their than their most prolific goal scorer. S.Marricco had narrowed the gap late in the first p...eriod and ultimately decided matters with less than a minute to go. The Degenerates felt that it was only a question of time before they took control of the series. They had a much better pace winning lots of loose battles and smelled blood entering game two where they took it to their opponent. Again, it was S.Marricco filling up the net, this time claiming three more tallies en route to a 4-0 shutout victory. As much as Marricco played a significant role throughout the playoffs, the Degenerates were in sync as a collective group getting plenty of contributions-from everyone. J.Atch clearly had their backs making plenty of key stops with the help of a committed defense in front of him. On behalf of Hockeyballe.com, congratulations go out to S.Sicuso and the Degenerates for finally taking it all. (2)The Classics vs Degenerates(3) Game 1 (4)Degenerates vs The Classics(0)Game 2 The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Sandro Marricco of the Degenerates. What more can you say for someone who consistently has the ability to score. In their most important night of the season, S.Marricco led the way again netting five out of his teams seven goals. Monday September 21 (Final division 1) Punishers bring winning pedigree, winners of 4vs4 division 1 Simply put, all Punishers knows is winning. When you go up and down their roster many things jump out at you. The Bad Guys Inc knew this and despite formulating a game plan or sort of strategy, nothing went right-from the get go. The Punishers clearly had the extra jump in their step, and ran away with game one getting goals-from six different players along with a flawless perf...ormance between the pipes by M.Melo. Even though game one was a miss match, the Punishers knew that it wouldn’t come easy in the end. The Bad Guys Inc needed short memories after a thumping and regained their focus in a much more contested battle. For one full period, this contest was up for grabs. That was until an early second period surge put the Punishers back on track. P.Arkalis scored barely 20 seconds into the frame and N.Mackeen followed up only moments later to put his club back in the drivers seat. From-there, the Punishers knew in their heads that this series was a wrap despite the amount of time left over, especially when P.Arkalis posted his second for a three goal margin. On behalf of Hockeyballe.com, congratulations go out to John Fidrilis and the Punishers for capturing the first division 4v4 title. (1)Bad Guys Inc vs Punishers(6) Game 1 (4)Punishers vs Bad Guys Inc(3) Game 2 The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Mathew Melo of the Punishers. Thursday September 17 Round 1 playoffs Key plays enable Horsemen to get past Brewers The Horsemen took their hopeful first step towards the next round by edging out the Brewers in two very close games. It was again their captain taking charge and in a very big way. V.Pandza was an absolute force, scoring three out of the Horsemen’s four goals while setting up M.Kardum early in the second period.
