Catching a Squirrel (original triptych form) by Ximena Berecochea starting at $900.00 This triptych is part of an exhibition on which seven visual artists in Toronto would respond to poems by Chinese poet Leung Ping Kwan. These three images come from the poem "Catching a Squirrel" (1979), by the memorable Chinese writer.... You can read the poem in this link. The piece was originally exhibited at Index G Gallery. "Paisaje 7" from the series Palimpsest by Laura Barrón starting at $550.00 This image belongs to the series Palimpsest, a work that explores the process of mourning, loss, pain, and the gradual movement toward transcendence. In this work, I sculpt my father’s ashes over an image of a landscape as a means of creating an alternate place where, as in memories and dreams, the past and the present converge to create something new. "Chair" from the series "The House in the House" by Ximena Berecochea starting at $450.00 This image is part of a project that was developed for an exhibition at the Spadina Museum in Toronto in 2008. The Spadina House was once a private shelter for a Canadian family. In the uninhabited spaces, we see the recreation of daily life and intimacy. Despite being uninhabited, there are minimal traces of the previous existence. The house in the house inserts an alternate story, thus... unfolding a space within this public space. The project talks about diaspora and the way we integrate ourselves into new territories. This series was shown at Nuit Blanche. Characteristics: Chair, (Canada, 2008). "Upside-down woman" from the series Traces by Silvana Agostoni starting at $450.00 Traces (2011). This body of work was photographed at the former penitentiary of San Luis Potosí, Mexico. The images are my re-interpretation and intervention of icons left behind by the absent occupants and presenting them as residues, prints, or remnants.... These faded graphic traces appear to me like archeological ruins, having crossed through layers of matter and time. They bear someone else’s nostalgia representing connections between the inside/outside and revealing fragmented or fractured psychological landscapes. Upside-down woman, (Mexico, 2011). "Delfín" from the series "Animal" by Ximena Berecochea starting at $450.00 This image is part of a project that was developed from 1998 until 2000. The images were produced in different geographies from America to Europe.... Through documented actions and visual discourse, this project explores the boundaries between instinct and reason. In a narrative whose main character is the animal figure, a series of steps are registered. As in a palimpsest, the original coherence of the elements shown is erased in order to imprint a new logic.
