EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION is now open for our 3 day virtual Meaning Conference 2021! Tickets are available here: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/inpms-11th-biennial-internation Early bird deadline is May 30th so RSVP today! This year's theme is "From Vulnerability to Resilience & Wellbeing". We have chosen the conference theme, because at a time when our vulnerability is laid bare by the external threats and our collective existential crisis, we embrace it as an opportunity to exp...lore and discover new pathways to resilience and well-being; this is the basic orientation of existential positive psychology or second wave positive psychology (PP2.0). PP2.0 may be defined as the scientific study of meaning, resilience, virtue, and well-being, as well as evidence-based applications to improve the life of individuals and society by embracing the dark side of human existence. The problem is not a lack of will power, knowledge or opportunity. The real culprit is our EGO. The tragedy is that we would not even admit that we have an ego problem but blame others for their ego problem. Contrary to common assumption, the paradoxical truth is that self-transcendence is the cure; the essence of self-transcendence is self-sacrifice or passion for something greater than the self, as demonstrated on Christ crucified. That is why Frankl defines meaning in terms of self-transcendence. My keynote at the forthcoming meaning conference in August 2021 is about the power of self-transcendence to attain meaning, happiness and virtue. See more
