Ironstone Strength & Conditioning 20.05.2021

On Thursdays at Ironstone we make time to slow things down and drop the load and intensity for those who need it. BEND - our yoga flow class runs in the morning; Mobility runs in the evening; and coach on call runs in scheduled sessions throughout the day providing an opportunity for focused skill work and progression coaching. Fitness is more than just getting crushed by a hard workout 7 days a week. Make time for movement in all its forms! #UnleashYou... #yoga #fitness #halifax #mobility #lowintensity #health

@seanturner21 LOVES the morning and noon crew. His face may not say it, but he loves them just the same. - Not that anyone can tell right now because, you know, masks. So here is a picture of Sean smiling to remind you he cares. #wearamask #coach #precovidpic #fitness #halifax #UnleashYOU

Two lockdowns in and you may be getting sick of the dumbbell and kettlebell workouts by now. Stay the course. Keep moving. Stay safe. Do the work. The other side of this thing is on the horizon. - #UnleashYou #fitness #strength #strengthathome #workout #athomefitness #halifax

You don't NEED to make a resolution. But... If you are going to, the new year can be a great time for reflection, meditation, and goal setting. It's an obvious point to measure from. You might start by asking yourself what you want from 2021. What do you want to be different about this year? How can you use this year to help you on your journey to the person you want to become? Be clear about what you want and when you want it. Make a plan. That's goal setting 101. You can d...o hard things. Then - and this is the important part - you have to take a step back and ask yourself W H Y . WHY do you want something different from this year? WHY do you want to grow, change, pivot, or shift? WHY are you setting this goal? Is it truely for you or for someone or something else? Are you doing this because of external pressure or because the media tells you that you have to? What is your reason? If you can confidently answer that your WHY is something YOU want to embrace then you should make that resolution. Set that intention. Write down that goal. You can do hard things. If it also so happens that your goals, plans, or resolutions align with what we offer at Ironstone you know where to find us. #UnleashYOU

GOODBYE MIKE. - Hopefully this got your attention and by now you realize this isn't a "we keep the gym clean" post. With everything that's been happening there just hasn't been a great time to announce that @mjhams is leaving the Ironstone coaching team this week to pursue some big, bad, brave life goals. - Mike joined the Ironstone team 3 years ago as a personal trainer and came onboard full-time in January 2019. Over the years conversations with Mike have really pushed me t...o evolve how I think about fitness, and our new BUILD strength class & program exists from a seed Mike planted the first day we met. - The team will still be in great shape! @jcoopertardivel is coming on board and we have some big things planned. Mike won't get too far, he's still planning to workout and stay close to home. - I will close with a few observations. Things Mike likes: 1. Coffee; 2. Reading 3. Coaching the Squat; and 4. Doing weird challenges like sleeping in snow banks. - Things Mike dislikes: 1. Sentimental social media posts; 2. Vaccuming (but he did it anyways, sometimes); 3. Keeping track of screws, small objects, and receipts; and 4. Burpees. Especially 1000 of them. - We might be closed for now @mjhams but we will see you soon. Best of luck on your next life adventure(s) pal. -Patrick See more
