Another case being made for the use of regenerative practices! This is an article on a study of the effects of nitrous on the environment. Nitrous is potentially more damaging than CO2 and unlike CO2, in which agriculture is not the major cause (although lots of folks like to think it is) with nitrous, it is the major player. We’ve looked at several articles and it rang...es from 50-70%. This combined with the issue of nitrogen run off, and the salinity of synthetic fertilizers is definitely making the case for reducing or eliminating this input. Utilizing nitrogen fixing plants in your cropping system is the solution to reducing reliance on synthetics. Air is 75% Nitrogen. Why not capture it and put it in your soil using nitrogen fixing legumes in a cover crop?
