Ballet Alignments Alignment Correct alignment, or posture, is extremely important for a dancer. Muscles will work minimally if the body is aligned correctly. Often alignment can deteriorate if your workload is increased so it is far better to cut back a little before fatigue sets in and you risk injury.... Posture in dance is not only functional but it also serves to enhance, not distract, the viewer’s attention from the dance. Correct posture is indicated by a straight line from the ear through the shoulder line to hips, through to just in front of the ankle.
