What? No, that should simply read Whistling Brit but he IS a powerhouse! Michael Hollings will be leaving us to solely concentrate on his Smart Home business. He enjoys the challenge of keeping up with the ever-changing technology of today and specializes in home security, home audio and entertainment, internet, wireless and Bluetooth connectivity and more! If you were lucky enough to have Mike as a Van Foreman on your job, you would’ve likely found him singing and whistlin...g while working and overall having a great time! Hence, why we’ve nicknamed him the Whistling Brit. His daily humor, loyalty, hard work and genuine self will be missed. He’s always willing to stay behind in the office/warehouse to offer his help and create a break in the day with great conversation & laughter. It has been such an amazing 3+ years having him as a part of the Len Wrays team. You will be missed by so many people Mikooooollll xo

Project Waterbox Wrap-up! Recognize anyone here? Wow. We could have made a movie about this project... you are AMAZING! Once again, the power of working togeth...er shines. Dozens of businesses and neighbours jumped in to get water up and down the Coast to save your farms and backyard carrots and squash! We... delivered over 60 waterboxes delivered over 120,000 litres of water from Langdale to Halfmoon Bay! juggled 28 volunteers who drove 1100 km delivering waterboxes and water! coordinated 12 businesses who provided totes, funds, wells, gear and trucks, delivered water to 87 different farms and homes - some already had storage containers met over 80% of requests for water (overwhelming numbers of people signed up!) Our bumps were a few leaky totes (swaps coming), global supply chain issues making finding hoses, pumps and totes tough, a lack of totes in the province when we needed them, a labour crisis that made it hard to find tanker drivers, and forest fires that pulled our biggest tanker off duty for fire standby. This meant that one farm and about a dozen home gardens didn't end up receiving water. But 87 others DID get water! What a pleasure it has been to get to know you, and to be a part of the positive energy that drives the Sunshine Coast vibe. There has been applause as totes are dropped off, jars of jam gifted to the drivers, and many new connections made between neighbours as we matched people with pickups and nearby farms and gardens. WATERBOXES to prep for next year... we finally have enough on the Coast ready for pickup or delivery! Please click here for details or to purchase: https://forms.gle/yequA5zuw9SzA9Jq5 ----------------------------------- Please make sure you give these fine folks your good vibes... Sunshine Coast Credit Union and Persephone Brewing for stepping into a crisis and supporting us to make this happen. ... Times are a-changing! Our Casie has resigned from her position as Office Manager after 5 years. She felt it was time to move on to a new future and new goals. She will be missed by our Len Wrays family, but we are excited for her to find a new opportunity in the community. Wherever she lands, they will be extremely fortunate to have her join their team. This also allows Angie to take over the many responsibilities of this role. She has been with Len Wrays Moving & Storage for... just over 4 months now and is doing a fantastic job! Good luck to Casie!

A few packing tips for dishes: 1) Start with the heaviest items at the bottom and lighter items at the top of the box ; 2) Lay down a layer of clean newsprint that has been balled/crunched up at the bottom of the box, between each layer of dishes, and at the top once the box is full; 3) Load your plates vertically and do not stack them horizontally on top of each other ; 4) Use extra crunched up paper to fill any empty spaces in your box. Happy Packing!

Do you know what to ask when you are choosing your mover? The Canadian Association of Movers (CAM) is a great resource when it comes to researching for your upcoming move. Here are a few things to consider when you are thinking of moving, looking for an estimate, or booking a move... 1) Reputable movers will NOT demand cash or any large deposit before moving you. You generally pay upon delivery. If you pay up front, you have zero control over when you’ll see your belongings again. When you do pay, use a credit card that will help you fight any fraudulent activity. 2) If you are moving to or from the Sunshine Coast, or moving locally from a home that is more than 2,000 square feet, you need an on site survey done. A mover who doesn’t insist on an on-site inspection of your household goods is giving you a sight-unseen estimate and those are usually too good to be true. These are the prices that usually increase by the time your delivery occurs. Homeowners typically have considerably more belongings than they think they do, and good estimators aren’t looking at specific items as much as guesstimating their bulk and weight. (A queen-size bed with no headboard or footboard weighs far less than one with an ornate, heavy wood frame.) Moving prices are based not only on mileage, but on multiple factors including ferries, fuel, the estimated weight of your belongings, and the amount of room your goods take up in the truck. 3) Make sure your moving company has a base of operation. The moving company you choose should have an office that you can physically visit. Victims regularly report that after the goods are loaded, the original moving company is difficult to reach and often simply stop answering calls. 4) Check your moving companies memberships. Are they a member of BBB, or CAM, or a Van Lines? These memberships come with requirements on how moving companies operate ethically and legally in order to maintain membership. It also allows you an objective 3rd party view into the performance of your mover. As we are now diving into the busy season of the year and the housing market is exploding, be careful of your moving plans and do your research to ensure your home and goods are treated with the respect they deserve!

How is the Moving Industry and Len Wrays Moving & Storage responding to COVID-19 (Coronavirus)? It is important that all of our customers know that Len Wrays Moving & Storage is working closely with both the Canadian Associations of Movers and United Van Lines to monitor COVID-19 and the response from health agencies in Canada around the world as they provide updates on the latest developments with respect to the virus. We are checking the official public health and gover...nment agencies for any announcements and risk assessment. If these advisories change, we will adjust our response accordingly. We recommend people visit the websites for the following Agencies and Organizations to receive the latest information on the Coronavirus: World Health Organization (WHO) The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) The Centre for Disease Control (CDC) Currently the public health risk in Canada is considered low. We want to ensure the Sunshine Coast residents that we are well aware of the situation and the anxiety this new pandemic outbreak brings. We are equally concerned about protecting our staff and our customers. We are also mindful of the vulnerable sector in our community- the elderly and those with health deficiencies that make them more susceptible to viruses. Len Wrays has already begun closely monitoring the risk factors faced by our moving crews and staff whether it be in our Gibsons office, in public areas such as BC Ferries, in our trucks, or at a customer's home. As of March 13,2020, our priorities are: -Practicing appropriate hygiene everywhere including the office, washroom, warehouse, moving truck and customer's homes -Frequently washing hands with soap and hot water -Avoiding touching mouths, eyes, and nose areas on our faces -Coughing or sneezing into our elbows and not into our hands -Being sensitive to greeting customers. We will avoid shaking hands and use verbal greetings -Make every effort we can to maintain a 2-metre distance between ourselves and others -Ask customers to sign documents using their own pens -Monitor the health of all of our employees and take immediate and appropriate precautions when necessary -It is not always practical for movers to wear masks and gloves. There is simply not enough to go around. We will take all other precautions that we can. We recommend all our current and potential customers call us if they have any concerns or questions. The health and safety of our staff and our community is our priority.
