I'm planning to start posting some travel deals - we're seeing some great winter pricing. I am mindful that some people may not be comfortable considering travel right now - for various personal reasons. However, there's a chance to get some good deals and most travel providers are offering flexible change and cancel policies for new bookings. And it's always nice to start dreaming again, right? I'm excited to start working with you all again!

Germany is a popular country but well worth the admiration and tourist visits - we spent only a week and loved every minute. (And my husband reminds me about how great the roads are almost every time we drive.) Our trip through Germany hit only a few highlights - Berlin and Munich, with stops in Detmold (a town in northern Germany where my husband's family is from) and Rothenburg ob der Tauber (a town straight from a fairytale) - but all of it was amazing. Berlin was cool, qu...irky and full of historical sites - my kid loved Legoland, and we loved the World War 2 sites. Moving into Detmold, we explored my husband's family's castle and the cool old town. It was a time to relax and explore on foot. On our way to Munich we stopped in Rothenburg ob der Tauber - seriously like walking into a Disney movie. It was a such a cool experience. (However often punctuated by a kid running by pretending he was Batman. It was my kid. My kid spent the day running around pretending he was Batman.) Then there was Munich - so much to see, so little time. But the absolute highlight was Neuschwanstein Castle - the inspiration for Disney's castle. Seriously amazing experience for me. Germany is a place we'll go back to because there is SO much more to see. There were a lot of World War 2 sites we did not go to due to the age of our kid (we didn't think it was appropriate for him to be Batman in some of the places and he wouldn't understand why he couldn't.) I've got so many more countries to share but I'm curious what your favourite country was?

Next up - the tiny island nation of Malta in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. This historically significant country was so cool. We explored the ancient walled city of Mdina, the busy oceanside city of Valletta, old World War II infrastructure, and exceptional coast line. There are even ancient roman ruins, and prehistoric and neolithic temples but we could not go into them as they are age limited (due to the sensitivity of the and our son was too young. Mdina sits on t...op of the hill in the centre of Malta - it dates back 4000 years and is a fantastic example of medieval architecture. Valetta, the capital of Malta has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It has winding cobblestone streets and amazing Baroque architecture. We had the best sandwich I've ever eaten in Valetta - it'll always hold a special place in my heart. If you are a war history buff like me you'll love Malta. The National War Museum is in an old barrack block and air raid shelter. Malta played a key role as a base for the Allies - it was under heavy siege for 2 years during the war. Then there's the beaches - although rocky (and not sandy), the blue Mediterranean is beautiful and the coast line is worth exploring. Now on this trip I had a 1.5 year old so I didn't bring out my own camera often (because I was chasing my kid) so photos are not my own. Our adventure to the Philippines to visit friends is one we will never forget. The country is made up of more than 7500 islands and the landscape and culture can vary greatly between them. We did not see nearly enough of the country but we loved the island of Bohol and El Nido. We hoped to visit Borocay for the perfect white sand beaches but the entire island was closed during our visit. Even Manila had some interesting places to go, despite its sometimes poor reputation.... El Nido Photo by Alana Harris on Unsplash (last one) Other photos are mine.

Next stop on our virtual world tour of Liz's favourite places - Iceland! We took my son when he was 2 and he still talks about Iceland and how he wants to go back. Most people go for a short trip and complete the famed Golden Circle (Thingvellir National Park, the Geysir Geothermal Area, and Gullfoss waterfall). We took a longer 11 day trip and circled the entire island. It was incredible. We searched for fossils in the cliffs by a beach, saw puffins, went in multiple ...natural hot springs, saw geysers, touched ice bergs, walked along a fault line, and explored Rekjavik and so many other small towns. So many amazing things to see - I grabbed a selection of our favourite places and will comment on each one with what it is.

Can't actually go anywhere right now so I'm going to share pictures from some of my favourite places. First up - Slovenia! We stopped here on our last trip because it was between Austria and Croatia and it ended up being one of our favourite countries ever! There is so much culture and history and the entire country is stunning! The capital of Ljubljana is one of our favourite cities - exceptionally walkable, kid friendly and full of fantastic sites and friendly people. Y...ou can even explore the city by water in the canals. Outside of Ljubljana is Lake Bled with an 11th century castle on the mountains overlooking the lake and a church on an island in the middle. It felt a bit like home, but also completely different! Slovenia also has a small piece of the Adriatic coastline - and its stunning!
