Plaid Friday - the local alternative to Black Friday - is November 27th this year, and in 2020 it kicks off a holiday shopping season perhaps more important than any year before it. The pandemic has been a challenging one for so many of our local businesses. They've had to pivot their business models and quickly adapt under stressful and ever-changing conditions. It's time to show them our love! This year that's why we are challenging Rupertites to gift local. Don't think so...mething you're looking for is available in town? Use our handy directory to look up local businesses that you may not be aware of at: https://lovenorthernbc.com/community/prince-rupert/ You can even send us a PM or post to your friend group and ask if there's a local source for something you're looking for. Running low on gift ideas? Search the hashtags #supportlocalpr and #plaidfriday to find inspiration and deals to spark the imagination. In challenging times, our community at the end of the highway always bands together. For those with the resources to give this season, there's no better time to keep that spirit of reciprocity and resilience going!

We couldn't have said it better ourselves! Mission Health and Wellness shared some pretty staggering stats today around why keeping your spending local this holiday season will have more benefits than just those that go to the business itself. That money stays longer recirculating in the local economy - keeping our business community vibrant, and your friends and neighbours employed. PLUS - They may not have tooted their own horn, but if you shop at Mission Health there's an added bonus! You're doubling down on the good feels by supporting a local business that ALSO carries sustainable and conscientious products. We think that makes them a prime spot to hit this shopping season! #supportlocalpr #buylocal
