Don't miss out on the only theatre production class being offered in Thunder Bay! Introduction to Theatre Production, for ages 18+, explores conception from script to stage. Learn the basics of set design, considering colour, lighting and other fundamental elements from Magnus Theatre's Production Manager, Nicholas Palinka. Apply what you’ve learned to the creation of your own maquette, a model of your design commonly used by professional set designers. Concepts that will b...e covered include how to read and create scale drawings, script analysis for design and colour theory. Lighting techniques, including hanging and focusing, will also be taught. Join Magnus Theatre's Teen Improv Troupe and learn the handy art of improvisational theatre. Laughs are guaranteed! TEEN IMPROV TROUPE (Ages 13-18) $189 Instructor: Danielle Chandler Saturdays, October 31st December 19th @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm... Improv is an important and often comical art form through which teens will concentrate on scene work, characters and focus. We're shaking things up a bit this year - instead of holding auditions for Magnus Theatre Young Company in person, we're requesting self-tapes! So... what is a self-tape? A self-tape is a digital audition that the actor films on their own and then sends in remotely. They can be filmed with a phone, tablet, webcam or digital camera - whichever is more convenient for you. Accommodations can also be provided for those unable to make a self-tape. Why should you sign your child up for our Magnus Minis or Magnus Youth program? Participating in theatre has enormous benefits for children including boosting self-confidence; teaching cooperation skills, social awareness and empathy; improving concentration, communication, memory, problem solving skills and increasing physical fitness. Both Magnus Minis and Magnus Youth are process based, which means that they focus on learning and practicing theatre skills rather than perf...orming in a major production from the get-go. Students are able to explore the world of theatre and expand their skill base in a comfortable, supportive environment before they perform for a live audience. This allows them to build confidence, express themselves, make connections and develop interpersonal and communication skills. Classes start on Saturday, October 31st!
