The short answer is - real! Do you have a real or fake tree? (no judgment here) ... First off, real trees don’t require the intensive carbon emissions that it takes to produce and ship artificial trees. Next, you’re supporting forests. When these natural trees are harvested for sale, there are more than ten times as many left standing! Out of the 350-500 million growing on tree farms across the U.S., only 30 million trees are harvested for Christmas each year. Buying real trees will help keep tree farms in business and in turn keep their lands covered in the healthy forest habitat that wildlife depends on to survive. And what’s more, once all the festivities are done, these trees can be recycled and given a second life. Most states have organizations that use these donated Christmas trees for conservation and habitat projects in their local communities. #StepIntoNature #HealthyHikes #Christmas

MEDIA RELEASE - Province Tying CAs Up in Red Tape Repeal Schedule 6 What the Province is proposing to do through the changes in Schedule 6 significantly threatens the independent, watershed-based approach of Ontario’s conservation authorities that municipalities and others rely on to protect our natural resources and to steer development away from creating or exacerbating flooding and other natural hazards, Gavine said. This isn’t what you would expect a government to do in light of the growing and more complex climate change impacts we are experiencing. Removing obstructions such as leaves and trash can encourage better drainage to avoid storm drains from freezing. Because some storm drains lead to lakes and rivers, never apply salt directly on frozen storm drains. #WinterWednesdays #SourceWaterON http://bit.ly/2V4c5r2
