Martello Alley is pleased and excited to welcome Ottawa artist Katerina Mertikas. Katerina is a self-taught artist who was born in Tripoli, Greece. She and her family (Patrinos) immigrated to Canada in 1960; first to Montreal and then to Ottawa. Her two daughters were originally the inspiration of her work, and now she happily depicts her grandchildren in her works with a renewed energy of watching them grow. Katerina Mertikas Art

Wendy is enjoying her birthday present. It arrived at Martello Alley earlier this week. If you look closely you will see that the fabric is a Québec City motif. There’s even an image of the Château Frontenac, where we had our first dinner date. We ate at the Café Canadien, because that was the only restaurant in that hotel that I could afford. It was in the north-east corner, just off la Terrasse Dufferin. Now it’s a Starbucks. Anyway, I ordered pea soup and Brador for the both of us. Wendy didn’t drink, and hated pea soup. So it made for an interesting dinner date. By the way, this chair was lovingly made here locally by My Old Cher.

COMING MID-JANUARY! We are getting ready for Froid’Art 2021! Froid’Art is a frozen public art experience, only in Kingston, Ontario. We create amazing 2-D work on plexiglass and then freeze it into 300-pound blocks of crystal clear ice. We even illuminate the art at night. It is stunning! Artist @lorikallay decided to go on a virtual vacation with her piece Dream Vacation. Next year Lori, hang in there. #martelloalley #artbylorikallay #dreamvacation #costaricapuravida #volcano #surfing #tropicalvibes #covidvacation #froidartktown #publicart #downtownkingston #ygkarts
