Marlene said: Dad loved to tell the stories and he was good at it. Yes I do have a few good stories and some of them very laughable. I was very fortunate to have spent quite a bit of time on the farm. Grandma was a very calm, quiet (to a certain point) and generous woman. I loved making butter, but of course ICE CREAM was my favorite! I loved churning as I knew what end results were. Loved listening to the clicking of the looms that were located, in what I called back then, ...my big side porch! (LOL) Odd that I should remember that. Loved pedaling on the Player ... I spent so much time deciding which roll I was going to put on to play. Of course I made sure the keys were unlocked, so I could pretend I was playing the piano. Well, better stop texting as enough is enough. Love all of The McBurnie Clan and hope everyone is safe and very healthy! See more
This old storefront in Powell River may have been the location of one of Uncle Ed McBurnie's ventures. Doug Love's post states that it was the home of (McBurnie's) Western Tire Ltd. until it moved to Westview in around 1956. He had a Volkswagen Dealership later, in Westview. The city of Langley has in storage a photo of McBurnie's Hardware in the old downtown on Fraser Highway, copies of which are available.
A happy find today! There's now a trail named after my Grandfather and his family - about our heritage farmsite. Geroge's sons pushed a road through from 208th Avenue at Campbell Valley Park, called McBurnie Road, now changed to 4th Avenue.

Summer of 2019 just before the Reunion.
My amazing son, Shawn McBurnie wrote and sings this!
