Dr. Christopher Labos, a cardiologist, will be talking about vaccines on May 28, 10-11am! Register for this event here: https://bit.ly/2PtvXEO About Dr. Labos: Dr. Christopher Labos completed his cardiology residency at McGill University where he served as chief resident and then completed a master’s degree in epidemiology before pursuing a research fellowship. Through no fault of his own, he started the Sisyphean task of working with the media to better communicate science... and health news to the general public. He has a regular column with the Montreal Gazette, is a regular contributor to the Sunday Morning House Call on CJAD radio, CTV news Montreal, and CBC Morning Live. He also co-hosts the award winning podcast The Body of Evidence. No one pays him for any of this. He is currently a cardiologist at Hopital Notre-Dame and an associate with the McGill Office for Science and Society whose mission is to promote critical thinking and present science to the public. To date no one has asked him for his autograph. Dr. Labos' podcast: https://www.bodyofevidence.ca/ Follow him on Twitter: @drlabos, on Facebook & LinkedIn: Christopher Labos. See more

The Lister Family Engaged Science Initiative (LFESI) is one program that is increasing its reach and impact even in these difficult times. Specifically, program participation this year is expected to be over 400 students, an increase of well over 100% from last year, and 16 times more than at its inception 5 years ago. So what do we do, what makes it so special, and how are we achieving such success? McGill University Read more: https://publications.mcgill.ca//a-bright-light-in-a-diffi/

Spring has sprung! It was a long winter for us all, but sunshine and warmer weather have finally arrived, providing us with a much-needed boost and optimism for the days and months ahead. We should be very proud that we have overcome so much and managed to come out on top despite the challenges and difficulties we have faced. NRS PostDoctoral Fellow Emily Choy has been awarded the 2020 L'Oreal Canada for Women in Science Research Exce;llence Fellowship! Emily became hooked on the Arctic when, as a Master’s student, she jumped on a research opportunity to study the effects of manmade contaminants on High Arctic food webs on Devon Island, Nunavut. When I experienced how out of the world it was and observed the wildlife that are so highly adapted to the Arctic environment, I just fell in love, says Choy. She has remained in Arctic research ever since, studying the impacts of climate change on Arctic marine predators from belugas and narwhals to murres and kittiwakes. https://www.canadiangeographic.ca//featured-fellow-emily-c
