Hello to everyone who sees this page and Happy Canada Day. Now that the hot weather is firmly here, please remember that the furnace filter needs to be changed regularly. Typically it should once a month. More frequent if you have a dusty or pet filled environment. If you have a filter that is deeper than 1" you may be able to stretch that out longer. To put your filter in perspective from the Covid-19 time we live in. A mask over your mouth makes breathing a little harder, and so does a dirty filter to your fan/AC. Of course if you want to talk about filters, give us a call or a FB msg.

Hi all. Again, I would like to reiterate the need to hire a professional to help you with your heating (and ventilation and AC needs) There are thousands of dollars of tools, meters and equipment involved in running an HVAC business. As well, business owners carry both WSIB and liability insurance to protect themselves any more importantly you the customer. My business carries 2 million dollars worth of insurance, so god forbid, there is an accident. There is protection ...for you. As well, if I or my associates are hurt on your property, WSIB covers me. Please ask your insurance broker what can happen if you are sued by an uninsured tradesperson. Now this is not to say that some of these folks aren't good trades workers. But there are many who are not licensed or even qualified to do the work. A gas tech in Ontario requires a G2 or G1 to be working in your home, although there are a couple of other licenses that are also valid, mostly if they are an appliance servicing technician. But all licenses are issued by TSSA in Ontario. Ask to see it if you aren't sure! Carbon monoxide is one of the biggest concerns. If the heat exchanger in your heating system goes, then the flue gasses can be released into your home, and not up the chimney. A trained tech will no the signs to look for and what to do about them. And lastly, just a friendly reminder. During the COVID-19 pandemic McTaggart Mechanical will be doing at cost (+10%) emergency servicing of your heating system. This does not apply to installations, we just want to keep you warm and safe until life returns to normal.
