Although it has been touted as a day to honor your mother or to be honored, some mom's dread this day. For some it is a reminder of so much sadness, loss and failure. For some a deep longing that may never be filled. We don't want to take away from the mom's that are being honored this day, but we want to remember and bless those moms who are hurting. ... Who are struggling to do it alone. Mom's who are mourning failure. Women missing a mom who has passed. Women missing a mom who wasn't there. To those who are hurting today, We see you! We know your struggle. Today we are thinking of you.

A 10-week online group for women experiencing problems with depression and anxiety in the perinatal period, will start on May 12 and run until July 14, 9:30-11:30am. Weekly attendance is expected; there is no cost to attend. Register with Lise McAlpine, 604-702-4860 or [email protected].

Volunteer appreciation week. Meadow Rose is so blessed to have such a wonderful group of volunteers. Both our board AND staff!... But those amazing ladies that show up week after week to give of their time to help our community are the backbone of our little charity. We would not exist without them. Meet Brandi! Hello! My Name is Brandi Butler and I have been a volunteer at the Meadow Rose Society for a year and a half. I am thankful for the opportunity to help out in our community and meet many wonderful people every week. It has been amazing to be able to get to know clients and hear their stories. I am honored to be a small part in the lives of families in need of our services. I believe that it does take a village to raise a family and it can be difficult for so... many to reach out and ask for help. I never realized the impact that Meadow Rose makes in peoples lives until I started volunteering. It humbles me to hear how thankful our clients are that we are there for them. Meadow Rose is important part of our community and contributes to the well being of those who are most vulnerable. I hope to continue my service to Meadow Rose and this wonderful community for many years to come! See more

Meet our next two Volunteers Katelyn and Katie! Hi! My name is Katelyn, (on the left) ... I have been a volunteer at Meadow Rose for a little over a year, I love being a part of Meadow Rose because I love being a part of something that is changing our community for the better by helping babies that can’t advocate for themselves. When I’m not at Meadow Rose I enjoy being outdoors doing things like hiking and kayaking. I am currently in school studying social work so I can hopefully make a difference in our community. Hello, I’m Katie! (on the right) I am passionate about helping those in need in our community which is why I love the volunteer work I do with Meadow Rose Society. If I’m not volunteering at Meadow Rose, you can find me deep in a textbook as I work towards my bachelor of social work degree at the University of the Fraser Valley. Traveling, hiking, and spending time with friends and family are just a few of my past times. Through volunteering at Meadow Rose Society, I hope to continue to improve the lives in our community!

Meet our Volunteers! Say hello to our Mother/Daughter team Mary and Jill! "Hi! My name is Mary Goertzen, and I’ve been a volunteer at the Meadow Rose Society for the last three years.... What I really appreciate about this charity is that it helps the young and vulnerable members of our Community. There are many different circumstances that bring people in here, and they can come in and get the help they need for their kids. I think it’s really important to be active in the community and help out wherever we can. What’s really satisfying is seeing the little kids and making a connection with them. Sending them off with a toy or a cookie just makes me happy. In my spare time I enjoy a lot of hobbies, and spending time outside in the garden. With me is my daughter Jillian, she’s been coming here the last couple of months. She’s brings an attitude of happiness and enthusiasm with her each time!" Mary is also a very accomplished artist and this team brings a lot of giggles and joy to our office
