Backrowing is an exercise often used in our reformer classes. Rie, one of our Lead Instructor Trainers, is demonstrating the proper position for this exercise. Maintain a neutral pelvis and spine and keep the shoulder blades in a neutral position (not elevated, or rounded forward). Keep your wrists and elbows straight and keep the arms close tot he sides of the carriage as you pull the ropes back.

What is the importance of footwork? Here we see Master Instructor Trainer Stefania teaching our new group of comprehensive reformer students how to properly execute and teach all the different footwork positions. Footwork is crucial for strengthening lower body muscles while maintaining torso stability as well as working on the mobility and stability of the knee and ankle joints. Next time you're in for a reformer class, try focusing on these points as you do your footwork exercises!
