Happy World Braille Day! Proclaimed by the United Nations in 2019, World Braille Day is an internationally celebrated day to raise awareness of the importance ...of braille as a means of communication in the full realization of the human rights for people who are blind or partially sighted. It also marks the birthday of braille inventor, Louis Braille, born on this day in 1809. To celebrate, throughout the week, we'll be sharing a collection of some of the CNIB Braille Creative Writing Contest 2020 submissions. This important creative writing contest encourages young people (grades K-12) to flex their creative muscles while practicing their braille skills to win cash prizes. Prepare to be entertained! [Image description: A split-screen picture. On the left-hand side of the image is the CNIB Foundation logo and a black box with white text: World braille day. January 4, 2021. On the right-hand side of the image, a woman's manicured hands read a braille document.] #WorldBrailleDay #Braille #LouisBraille #CreativeWriting #Stories #Poems
