Check out @pandemicpregnancyguide For World Maternal Mental Health Day tney have compiled a list of FREE, ONLINE mental health resources. This was adapted ...from a list done by Aarti Dhanda, a social worker and therapist in Toronto. Perinatal mental health disorders are the most common complication of childbirth and pregnancy, with 1 in 5 Canadian women affected. Perinatal mental health issues can arise anytime during pregnancy up to the first year postpartum. It is important to note that perinatal mood disorders impact BIPOC mothers and LGBTQ2S+ birthing parents at higher rates. Please know that if you or someone you know is struggling, it’s ok to be not be ok. Mental health concerns often go untreated as it can be difficult to reach out for support because the symptoms can be dismissed, it may not be clear where to ask for help and despite it being so common, there remains significant stigma related to it. By openly discussing mental health concerns, we can raise awareness and help us all feel less alone in these struggles. Motherhood and parenthood are no small feat and they can carry emotional, physical and mental weight that has been magnified during the pandemic. We at PPG are here to support you and help you access the resources you need. Do you have any resources you have found helpful and want to share with others? Please comment down below and share with our community. #PandemicPregnancy #PushingThroughThePandemic #pregnancy #maternalheath #obstetrics #COVID19 #coronavirus #vaccine #COVID19vaccine #mentalhealth #youarenotalone #maternalmentalhealth #ppd #ppa #babyblues https://www.instagram.com/p/COg7-CcgXs3/
