Faces Behind the Masks Sara was one of the first hires when the ferry started service in 2018 and she's so happy to be back on deck! She started as a deck host and worked her way up being a skipper. Growing up she never thought of sailing the high seas, however now that she's had a taste of marine life, she can't see herself doing anything else. ... "I really like the feeling of community working on the ferry. It's like we're all one big, happy family."

We're pleased to announce train whistle cessation will be implemented at two railway crossings, one at Quayside Drive and Laguna Court, and the other at the Brookes Street Pedestrian Crossing in Port Royal. We've been working very closely with Technical Safety British Columbia and with Southern Railway of BC (SRY) to ensure a smooth transition toward cessation at these crossings and the whistle cessation order will be enacted on Friday, December 18, 2020.

We are creating a new 1.2 km greenway along Agnes Street to support walking, wheeling, and cycling. The Agnes Street Greenway will include a two-way protected bicycle lane for people cycling, improved sidewalks for people walking, and new landscaping, trees, and street furniture like benches. To start, we're installing an interim greenway along Agnes that will allow you to experience it and provide feedback as we work through the design process towards a permanent treatment. ...Learn more about the temporary treatments on our website: https://www.newwestcity.ca//agnes-street-greenway-installa See more

We've had some reports of coyote sightings recently. Please be cautious and alert, making sure to keep dogs leashed at all times and cats indoors if possible. Remember that coyotes are a normal part of our urban wildlife and while we handle concerns regarding domestic animals, we do not have jurisdiction to handle wild animals (other than the occasional injured wild animal which we transport to a rehab facility). If you see aggressive behaviour from the coyotes, you can report it to the BC Conservation Office. 1-800-663-9453/ 1-800-663-7867.
