#whatsonatyourgallery Vision 2020 #exhibition #virtual A celebration of International Women's Day. Dec 6th 2020 - Mar 6th 2021... This is a survey exhibition that examines the contributions of women artists in Niagara Falls within the past half century and reflects the evolving focus of visual arts as Niagara Falls is at an exciting crossroads in art history. Artists from multiple generations will exhibit alongside each other and will include students from each of the 5 #secondary #schools in #niagarafalls as well as more experienced artists in the community. Promoting conversation, this event will aid the varied demographics in learning about each other's roles within the broader arts community. Emphasis will be on the value of women's work moving forward and the opening of the exhibition will coincide with our country's day of mourning over the massacre at Montreal's Ecole Polytechnique. It is with great sadness that The Niagara Falls Art Gallery mourns the loss of David Aurandt. David was an artist, gallery director, educator, arts advocate and friend for 30 years. His career spanned work with the Thunder Bay Art Gallery (Thunder Bay), Eastman Kodak at the Creative Imaging Centre (Camden, ME), Rodman Hall Arts Centre (St. Catharines), the Robert McLaughlin Gallery (Oshawa) and most recently the Riverbrink Gallery (Queenston) in addition to several Canadian u...niversities. His sense of humour, enthusiasm for the arts, and generosity of sprit will continue to guide and inspire those of us following in his footsteps. The Niagara Falls Art Gallery, some of whom worked with David at Rodman Hall for 10 years, wish to extend our deepest condolences to Davids family, friends, colleagues, and everyone who knew him throughout his life.
