This morning, we were honored to host the Honourable Rod Phillips, Provincial Minister of Finance, at NORCAT's main office in Sudbury. We had the opportunity to show Minister Phillips and his team examples of our work to support small businesses in our community and accelerate the growth of of innovative companies that will drive future economic and social prosperity for Canada. His visit included introductions to NORCAT's Digital Main Street Transformation Team Leads, who... are working with teams of highly trained students and recent graduates to support the digital presence of main street businesses; Peter Dal Bianco, one of NORCAT's Innovation Mentors who work one-on-one with startups to help them grow and thrive; Joy Wirta, CEO of Dragonfly Advisory Services and one of Peter's clients and Tom Fortin, Founder of the Fortin Discovery Lab, who created the lab to help the local community acquire the skills needed to create a strong, innovative manufacturing sector in Northern Ontario. Since no great tour of NORCAT is complete without a visit to our technology and software development studio, Minister Phillips ended his visit at STUDIO NORCAT, where he got a first hand look at how we are actively designing the future of work and learning through augmented and virtual reality training programs.
