Important update on emergency care: At Nova Dental, we take the oral health of our patients very seriously and we are aware of our role as part of the greater health care team. Our Dental Board has advised that we temporarily suspend elective dental treatment but we are still treating patients with dental emergencies. There has never been a time during which it is more important to not clog up the hospital emergency rooms and physician's offices. If you have a dental emergenc...y, regardless of if you are a patient of Nova Dental, please call our office, 902-864-4658, you will be given one of our phone number’s, and a dentist will contact you. An emergency is: heavy bleeding, swelling or infection that makes it hard to swallow or breathe, a tooth that has been knocked out, or severe pain. Our office waiting area is large enough to accommodate social distancing of 6 ft and questions regarding flu-symptoms will be asked over the phone prior to you being given an appointment time.

UPDATE: The recent confirmation of community spread of COVID-19 in our province has prompted The Provincial Dental Board of NS to take additional measures to prioritize health and safety. Emergency dental treatment will now be carried out in designated emergency dental clinics. Nova Dental remains committed to supporting Nova Scotians during this challenging period and we will continue to be your first point of contact for dental inquiries. If you have concerns about your oral health, please call us. In the case of a true dental emergency that cannot be managed over the phone, we will take the next steps to have you cared for in a designated facility. Our dentists will be working most weekdays from 9:00-1:00 to care for patients from any dental office who are having a dental emergency. In an effort to encourage social distancing, while also doing their part to keep patients out of walk-in clinics and ERs, we’re doing our best to manage emergencies with a few new protocols in place. Expect to answer a few more questions both over the phone and in-person, and to wait in your car until we call you in. Treatment cannot be done on patients who have had flu symptoms in the past 14 days, but our phones are open and we can help you answer your questions.

UPDATE: Please be advised the Provincial Dental Board of Nova Scotia strongly recommends that all non-essential and elective dental services should be suspended effective immediately. Emergency treatment should be continued. This recommendation will be continuously monitored and stands until further notice.
