On Tuesday November 3rd, first year student Lutie Kaviok from Arviat caught his first polar bear. He drew a tag and travelled on the land with his Father and Great-Uncle. They guided him through the ice and shared traditional knowledge with him, on how to skin the bear. Lutie described the experience as "exciting"; and explained that he felt very connected and trusting of the land. The bear was close to 7 ft in length. We are so proud of you Lutie! Ajungi!"

Last week, students took a break from academics to focus on cultural learning. Across the territory, students participated in different activities such as beading, crocheting, working with skins, singing, lighting a qulliq and practicing Inuit games. Thank you to the community liasons and NS alumni who helped organize.
