Eco Centre Closed for the Labour Day Weekend! Access to all residential recycling for cardboard, paper, tin cans, plastic, Styrofoam, glass, paint, HHW, electronics, batteries, fluorescent tubes, grass/leaves and brush/branches will still be available for all of your recycling needs. Town of Peace River 2020 Fall Cleanup! We will host the 2020 TOPR Fall Cleanup at the Peace Regional Eco Centre on the West hill from Saturday, September 19th, until Saturday, September 26th, 2020. Open from 9:00am to 6:00pm. Open only to the residents of TOPR.... We ask that you please be mindful of your speed (10km per hour speed limit in place) and follow our newly posted one way in and one way out traffic flow for everyone's safety. Please watch for speed bumps at the entrance into and at the exit of the back compound area. Please stop at the gate and do not proceed into the back compound area until given the okay by a monitor. Because of COVID-19, we cannot assist with the offloading of any materials. Please bring help. Please place larger, or heavier items you cannot lift into the bins on the ground and we will use our machinery to put it into the bin for you. The Put-N-Take will remain closed during the cleanup and until further notice. No commercial or business loads. They must go to the landfill. No open toe shoes permitted! Children under 12 and pets must remain in vehicles at all times. No smoking on any part of the site permitted. We ask for your patience while waiting in line. AN ECO CENTRE INFORMATION AND TIP MOMENT! We have removed the blue bag bin out front. We initially set it up as a courtesy for TOPR residents who missed their curbside pick up. However, because of misuse and contamination, we have removed it. We no longer take blue bags here at the Eco Centre.... Please sort all of your recyclable materials into the appropriate bins. AN ECO CENTRE INFORMATION & TIP MOMENT! We have installed a new residential cardboard bunker here at the Eco Centre. We hope that this will reduce misuse, contamination and flyway cardboard.... For residential use only, for membership service area of NSC, TOPR and Village of Nampa. Local business and commercial loads of cardboard accepted on Tuesdays and Fridays. Please flatten your boxes. AN ECO CENTRE INFORMATION & TIP MOMENT! Our Grass/Leaves & Brush/Branches bins have arrived for the 2020 season and are ready for use!! We have placed them outside the gates and they are accessible 24/7.... RESIDENTIAL USE ONLY FOR MEMBERSHIP RESIDENTS (TOPR, NSC, Village of Nampa) NO BUSINESS / COMMERCIAL LOADS NO PLASTIC BAGS OF ANY TYPE NO LUMBER / PALLETS OF ANY TYPE NO RAILROAD TIES NO BRANCHES OVER 2 INCHES IN DIAMETER NO STUMPS NO NOXIOUS WEEDS NO CLIMBING INTO THE BINS LARGER VOLUMES MUST GO TO THE LANDFILL Please watch your footing on the stairs and be careful when leaning into the bins. Please empty your bags of grass/leaves into the bin and place your used, emptied plastic bags into the waste bin. Please find an alternative arrangement or use for your kitchen waste. Please do not drop off on the ground, or throw into any of the other bins (this includes the grass/leaves & brush/branches bins when they arrive).... We have had several drop offs in front of the Put-N-Take and on the front deck area while we have been closed; with the most recent drop offs over this past long weekend. Please be aware that these items pose a health and safety risk for our staff to handle them and to the public who might sort through these items, or take them home. At this time all of these dropped off items will be sent straight to our landfill. ... We want to remind the public that our cameras are working and that it is a finable offence to drop off items intended for the Put-N-Take or the landfill (on the ground/off the ground) when we are closed and our Put-N-Take remains closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. AN INFORMATION & TIP MOMENT! We have been finding used plastic and latex gloves mixed in with our plastics recycling. These items are considered non-recyclable at any time and with COVID-19, they become a biological hazard and puts our staff at risk of exposure when processing.... We also ask that you do not put them in with the TOPR / GFL collected curbside blue bags. We bale the blue bags collected here at the Eco Centre. PUT-N-TAKE CLOSED! Due to COVID-19 we have closed the Put-N-Take. It will remain closed until further notice. We ask that you please keep your items intended for drop off at home with you. We have also closed our washroom to public access. ... At this time all of our recycling streams, Eco Centre, Depots and Transfer Stations remain open and are available for use. However, we ask that you please consider storing as much of your recyclable materials as possible at home with you to reduce any potential exposure. We ask that any recyclable material being dropped off here, be thoroughly cleaned and free of any contamination.
