PlayOn Productions is currently seeking one female actor (age: 55+) to complete our cast for ‘night, Mother, by Marsha Norman. We are looking to cast the role of Mama. Mama is a woman of a certain age, set in her ways, who has grown very used to her quiet country life. Widowed, she lives alone with her adult daughter, Jessie, who takes care of just about everything, so Mama doesn’t often have occasion to worry. PERFORMANCE DATES: November 23rd and 24th - 8 p.m., November 24th - 2p.m. All performances will take place at The Silver Mill, 10 Dawes Road, Toronto, ON M4C 5A7 (Main and Danforth) THE PLAY: ‘night, Mother is a Tony Award nominated, and Pulitzer Prize winning play by Marsha Norman. An intimate family drama, it offers a brief window into what starts out as typical evening shared between a mother and her daughter, Jessie. The night takes a sudden, heart wrenching turn when an unexpected announcement from Jessie shakes their quiet country life to the core, leaving the entire future to hang in the balance as the clock ticks forward. REQUIREMENTS: Please prepare a 1-2 minute monologue of your choosing, that demonstrates your range. We are incredibly excited to announce that after an almost four year hiatus, PlayOn Productions is back! **Cue cheers and raucous applause** As if that weren’t enough excitement for one day, we are also happy to announce that for our first show back, we will be presenting ‘Night, Mother, by Marsha Norman. Tonight ends the first part of our incredible journey as we step on the stage one final time to tell this thought provoking story of Closer. Many years ago, two young girls had a dream. Today this dream becomes real, with a whole lot of help from a whole lot of people. It is officially opening night of Closer - by Patrick Marber!! Lights have been hung, sound has been checked. The cast and crew are busily scrambling around gathering the last couple details for tonights final dress rehearsal! Make-up is being applied and hair is being put up for the wonderful Burdett Photography will be shooting our productions shots tonight! This has been one crazy ride and tomorrow it all becomes worth it.

Some sad news in the Closer world. The wonderful director Mike Nichols passed away suddenly yesterday, at the age of 83. One of an elite group of EGOT(Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony) recipients, Nichols had an incredible career, littered with directing credits on classic films like The Graduate and, of course, Closer. Mr. Nichols, we salute you. Thank you for your art. Rest In Peace.

And that's that. We are officially moved out of our rehearsal space and tomorrow we move in to the theatre. You heard that right. Tomorrow.
