It's a question that someone recently asked me and I have to say... It had me stumped for a minute. I could think of different things I do as a trainer (coach, encourage, teach boot camps, educate, try to make fitness fun), but I struggled to see how that was any different from what most trainers I've seen are doing as well. Then I thought more about what the motivation is behind doing all of those things. Is my main goal as a trainer to help clients lose weight? No, it's not. Is my main goal as a trainer to help people get stronger or learn how to lift weights? No, it's not. My main goal as a trainer is to help people discover themselves through fitness. That's how I started this whole thing. I was needing to find myself as a mom to two young kids. I had never lifted weights before in my life. I was scared. Intimidated. Inexperienced. But I started. I kept lifting until I realized that I was stronger than I thought I was. Until I had a "gym persona" that gave me the confidence to walk into a space where I didn't used to think I belonged and own it. And then that "gym persona" just became my "persona persona" (that's a word, right?!) I wasn't faking being strong, or informed or confident. It's who I was now. Who I am now. And it's who I want others to become to. So that's who I am as a trainer. Someone who helps people discover who they are through training. Did you know you can eat at out and still lose weight? Some health experts might disagree with me but I’m going to say it anyway... You can eat your favourite foods and drink wine and still lose weight.... Just ask my clients! Jessica has lost 15 pounds. Megan has lost almost 20 pounds. I lost 10 pounds (before I got pregnant!) None of us are following a diet. Just following my strategies for mindful eating and focusing on being consistent 7 days a week, NOT perfect for 4 days and eating super unhealthy for 3 days. One of them isn’t even exercising yet! Are you ready to break the cycle that doesn’t serve you? Are you ready to get results and maybe fit into those clothes you used to love?
