We started one of our 6 day implant programs earlier in the year but due to COVID we had to stop the program. Most recently we completed the program adhering t...o social distancing and mask wearing. We call this mask to mask. We are now in the process of putting together next years programs with much emphasis being placed on hands on experiences with small classes. We have been back in the office for two months now and for the most part all have settled into a new reality of PPE and added precautions. For many years, givi...ng CE through the office has been a big thing....whether it be one on one courses and shadowing opportunies or larger courses culimnating in our Potpourri which is now scheduled for November 5, 2021. During the initial lockdown of COVID, we went to a virtual approach for our seminars and will contiinue to do so for certain seminars with options being made avaialbe for direct CE (mask to mask). Back in March we gave the restorative implant course which is a six day program. We had to postpone further sessions but have now given the 3rd and 4th day of the program at PACE wtih proper distancing and personal protection. The last 2 days will be given at the end of the month. This program has a large handson component and must be given mask to mask. We are all very happy that we are able to get back to our teaching responsibilites and look forward to seeing everyone soon. Courses participation will be limited to the number that can be accomodated based on space restrictions. We have also been in touch with several groups that have situations where courses can be combined. See you all soon. ib

It is with great regret that I must inform you that our friend and colleague Caroline (Urbanik) Szymaniak has passed away. This is a huge shock to us all. Car...oline worked with us for over a decade and has been instrumental in so many projects at PA. She served as our Administrative Division Manager for the past few years and was instrumental in preparing many of our publications, CE presentations, and marketing efforts in the office. Caroline represented PA on many occasions at international and national meetings. Caroline was instrumental in setting up the Build Your Smile Dental Foundation (BYSDF) and served as it COO for its first two years. She travelled to Uganda on multiple occasions, not only to support clinical outreach, but to also teach at our symposia at Makerere University in Kampala and to the ROTOM administrative team. She continually worked on furthering her skills and education, both personally and professionally. Her organizational skills and ability to create magic behind-the-scenes were well known to those who worked with her. She was also a key force in creating the Phoenix Smiles Initiative which provides dental treatment and general support to deserving women in the care of Street Haven at the Cross Roads, a local womens shelter. She was so committed to serving those less fortunate that she was furthering her education at George Brown Colleges Not-For-Profit Management program. During difficult times, Caroline went above and beyond to ensure our programming was successful and well organized. Her efforts to help others less fortunate will always be remembered and Carolines impact will never be forgotten.
