Fear of failure is just as harmful as fear of success. Without stepping in the ring, we never have to own that we weren’t able to succeed. We have to be brave enough to start, strong enough to really try (not a half assed effort) and determined enough to give up the quit and dig for the grit to succeed. ... It doesn’t have to be all or nothing but we have to be consistent. Nothing changes without daily intention and the drive to stay consistent. Does this mean that you food has to be perfect and your workouts have to kick your ass every single day? No, it means that you do better more than not and when you decide to ease up, you do it intentionally aware of the consequence and then keep moving forward. We have two options...step in the ring or observe others succeeding while we sit on the sidelines grasping for reasons we can’t. If you are tired of the can’t, this is your time

These guests have turned their lives around and share how they did it along with their emotional journey through it.... I am planning our January Challenge with a different twist to help us all get back on track after a year for the history books. I know some have really struggled and feel as though their world seems to have been put on hold but we are charging forward. This will be a focused group of those who are looking for not only physical, nurtitional but also emotional help through it all. We have been hit with alot of adversity over the past few months and I just wanted to take a moment to acknowledge all of our crew who searched for their solutions over excuses through all of this. Meet our infamous Kelli J! This lil lady has the best sense of humour and deliverance of sass and she always brings a ton of fun to her workouts. When asked what her WHY is for making the time for herself, I was blown away by her answer... My why... Hart Smart Fitness and I have a love/hate relationship! ... I love Frances and everything she believes in and she hates it when I give up on myself. I have been on a rollercoaster ride with my fitness journey and Frances has always been supportive and welcoming when I come to my senses and realize that I need to put myself first and take care of the only body and soul I have. My why is that I want to treat my body to the strength and power that Frances’ workouts give me. My why, is to help my body get strong and healthy so I’ll be able to keep up with my grand baby for years to come. Frances helps me achieve my goals and encourages me every step of the way! I also like to laugh and love to be around (even virtually) the supportive women/friends who are always encouraging !!! So even when I moan and groan and complain about planks, I love every second of my time with HSF and Frances is the best!!! I love that two of our ladies commented today on how convenient their zoom personal training sessions are, Covid may have thrown a few curves our way but if there’s a will there is a way and these ladies found it! Minimal equipment needed, no driving in the snow and no one cares if you are still in your PJs ;).

Meet Dawn!! Dawn is a busy Lady! Between the responsibilities of being a Mom to two busy boys or the multiple jobs/businesses she manages, she always shows up with this smile right here. Dawn’s response to why she continues to stay consistent with her workouts is pretty inspiring ... Way back when it was because that's what successful people did. So I did it. Mid way it was to keep my knee strong enough to keep up with kids and curl. ... Now because I'm worth it. Because we invest so much time and energy into other stuff and people and we really should be investing our time and money into ourselves. My best self sure has more to offer when I move easier, feel better, have more energy and have had my weekly fix of Frances conversations. I wish I was kinder to myself many moons ago. Kind enough to tell me that taking care of myself and ultimately my body would have given me a better base to support those I love the most. For those who are looking for a safe space to train, I have a few spots open for personal training at Eastlink in the afternoons when the facility is not open to the public. Most days it is just myself and my client in the whole gym. You do NOT require a membership on too of training costs, that is covered by me . Meet Lisa! Lisa has been with us from the very beginning, over 7 years now filled with sweat, tears and a lot of laughter. When asked what her WHY is for staying so committed to her workouts this was her response... So, my why, is pretty simple. I continue to work out and stay committed because of the benefits to my physical health and my mental health. Diabetes, back issues, and heart disease runs in my family, so I keep working out to hopefully avoid developing any of t...hese issues. I also view my workouts as " me time"... Time where I can check out from the stress and worries bid everyday life and just concentrate on the moment, how heavy can I lift/push? Can I just get through 4 sets? Can I push myself when I feel like quitting? And all the while I have you and the rest of our workout crew pushing me along and cheering me on. The time I spend working out is always well spent! Let’s talk aches and pains... As a trainer we hear all of the time how much your body hurts and how it’s too hard to exercise due to those aches and pains. If you have been sedentary for a period of time, you are going to feel aches and pains as you get back at it, our bodies are meant to move. When we stop moving we lose strength and flexibility which takes its toll on our bodies. Some people might look at a small weight gain as tolerable but all of the extra weight that we... carry adds extra stress to our muscles and joints. I guess the bigger question is, how long do we sit in inactivity because of aches and pains rather than realizing that the stronger we get, the sooner those pains seem to disappear. . Before we write ourselves off as having a bad back, bad knees or are incapable of working out, perhaps we have to really ask ourselves if we have ever held on long enough to build up our strength to work out the aches and pains? #effortorexcuse See more
