Attn all sewers! We are using a TON of paper towel here at the Children's Centre! This is not only financially challenging to maintain but AWEFUL for our environment. Therefore we want to switch to a cloth towel system made from old receiving blankets or other suitable materials. In order to fully move away from the paper towel system we will need about 1500 of these little hand cloths made. This is far too much for us to handle in house so we are asking for help from our com...munity! They are very easy to make and do not require a sewer to be very experienced! November Newsletter - https://mailchi.mp/59868b953cb7/november-newsletter Wow, October sure was a busy month! We welcomed new children, we opened new programs and we celebrated together. Read all about it in November's newsletter.

Over the past several months we have been very busy working with the Quadra Island Bible Church preparing a second after school care space. We were thrilled to open our doors on Monday to Quadra Peaks, a program for children in grades 3-5, offering spacious indoor and outdoor play areas all within Quadra Island’s uniquely natural setting. During set-up we asked our community for donations of much needed supplies and once again we were blown away by the generous response! T...his photo only represents a small selection of the wonderful art, craft, games and activity items that our community members dropped off to the Children’s Centre. We also needed to stock our beautiful new space with food for snack preparation, baking and cleaning supplies. Once again we relied heavily on the combined efforts of our community members who selected Quadra Children’s Centre as the receiver of their spirit board points and to the amazing crew at our Tru Value stores who run such an incredibly generous and supportive program. Our heartfelt gratitude goes out in heaps to Murray Garland, Brent Austring, Tru Value Foods and our amazing community members. We strive to offer quality, affordable childcare to our community and we are excited now to be expanding the programs that we can offer to serve more of our community. We are in search of items such as balls, skipping ropes, hockey sticks, outdoor toys, art supplies (such as glue guns, scissors, paper materials... really anything that can be used to craft!), books or magazines geared to grades 3-5, hoola hoops, or anything else that this age group would have fun with! We would like to wish our preschool children moving on this fall all the very best in their new adventures! Last week we had the opportunity to celebrate with the children and their families. It may have looked very different from our annual summer party however some aspects remained the same. The joy the children felt at knowing this celebration was all about them - one child ran through the front gate yelling, This is all just for me! Well, it sure was! It was also wonderful to witness the mix of emotions as the children were presented their unique memory book by Lise. One of our favourite moments every year is watching the shared experience between the child and their parents as they flip through the pages of their memories at the Children’s Centre, this truly touches our hearts. As the sign says WE WILL MISS YOU!

We are so excited to announce the LAUNCH of our new programs for school-aged children! We are keeping our group sizes fairly small to ensure the safety of our children, staff and community but we still have room! Halloween in August? Well if you put Quadra Kids imagination and their huge energy to work, the answer is a resounding YES! Initiated by the kids and enthusiastically supported by the teachers our Quadra Kids hosted a full blown Halloween party! Complete with a party for the preschoolers, haunted house for the teachers, games, tricks, a piñata, candy, decorations and LOTS more. Thanks to our talented Quadra Kids for a very special day at the Centre!

We have been working towards our soft re-opening for essential tier 1 families and we are getting very excited that tomorrow is the big day! We wish to thank Elijah Faulkner and Scott Anderson for their ongoing support with the maintenance of our buildings and grounds throughout our closure. A special shout out to Dee McPhee and family for getting our gardens and mud kitchen in tip top shape for the children’s arrival. We ask that returning families take a moment to look a...t our WELCOME board at the entrance of the preschool building and the MESSAGE board in Quadra Kids program for special notices which will help to keep us all safe during these times.
