Our enrollment is increasing, and we are currently looking to hire several educators. One team member shares her experience with us since we opened our doors a year and a half ago: "I love coming to work at The Learning Academy! It's like a home away from home with the plants everywhere and all the staff are friendly, kind and helpful. Our families are amazing and we have great connections with them. I feel like my thoughts and ideas are heard, we have the freedom to try new things and explore the kids interests. Reggio is really amazing because the most obscure things can be turned into activities for our kids; just the other day I brought in boxes to create art easels, a cave and a boat."

All in person tutoring sessions are cancelled. Online sessions will continue as scheduled. Our childcare centre is open.

The infants are exploring the colour red this week and it's getting a little festive around here!

Due to social gathering restrictions, this year’s tree lighting ceremony will be a little different! We are looking for two kids with holiday spirit to help May...or Luke Charbonneau light our trees. Is your child interested in entering? Have them share their favourite thing about the holiday season in Saugeen Shores. There will be two winners, one for Port Elgin and one for Southampton. Entries will be accepted from all residents of Saugeen Shores, including Saugeen Township. The tree lighting will be filmed and shared to help kick off the holiday shopping season. How to enter: - Email your entry to [email protected] by November 12, 2020 - Include the name and age of the child, as well as the guardians name and phone number - Tell us what your favourite thing about the holiday season in Saugeen Shores (approx. 150 words) Winners will be contacted by phone to arrange the taping. When you compliment a toddler's handmade hat and then his mom makes matching ones for all of his teachers. We have the best parents.

After playing outside on a hot morning last week, the preschoolers were welcomed back into the room with this beautiful invitation to explore light, colour, and shapes.

Ah! It's Fri-yay! Our preschoolers are loving these tires. They've made obstacle courses, tractors, combines, and climbing towers with them. They're also fun to roll up and down the hills and push around the yard!

Love this setup by the preschool team The mirror provided opportunities for conversations about their faces and reflections, the puffy paint was an additional sensory experience and it was all done outside.

Oh the good ol' days playing in the sandbox. The kiddos are 'patiently' waiting for it to re-open and check in everyday to see if the rules have changed.

Rain or shine we head outside! It always helps to change everyone's mood, and we discover new things to play with in the yard when our usual favourites are too wet.

Happy long weekend! We will see you on Tuesday as we head into week three of re-opening.

Wow. Lots of announcements yesterday! Childcare centres can open at capacity as of September 1, but we have to wait until guidelines are released to know exactly what that means for us. . In terms of our waitlist for childcare, we are working through August and September start dates for spaces under the current regulations and have sent out offers to families. . We have been discussing what our 2020/2021 return will look like for tutoring and hope to come up with a plan over ...the next few weeks. . On the menu today: Sweet Korean Lentils and broccoli for lunch from @itdoesnttastelikechicken and tangerines with Peanut Butter Cookie Sticks from @lovemefeedme for afternoon snack. Morning snack was Banana Quinoa Breakfast Bars from @thehealthymaven but they gobbled those up before we could get a photo. We can't believe the preschoolers asked for more BROCCOLI.

A little throwback to a fun painting activity with the toddlers. They started out by dipping plants and plastic insects into the paint and it turned into a finger painted masterpiece. We loved watching them explore and get messy! @ Port Elgin, Ontario
