We know advanced #quantum simulations may one day be able to help us explore new frontiers in atomic physics, build new materials and discover new drugs. But first, researchers must find the best ways to control these simulations. Pooya Ronagh, Research Assistant Professor at IQC and University of Waterloo - Faculty of Science, and Kyle Mills and Isaac Tamblyn of the Ontario Tech University have demonstrated that #machinelearning may hold the answer.

"Many authorities in the field didn't believe these devices could work outside a laboratory environment or anywhere close to room temperature, said Zbig Wasilewski, a physicist and professor of electrical and computer engineering at Waterloo and a principal investigator at Transformative Quantum Technologies. Our combined expertise just changed this paradigm." Read how researchers at the University of Waterloo and MIT have created a portable version of a tiny, powerful laser device with potential applications in fields ranging from medical imaging to detecting hidden explosives.
