Unfortunately its going to be a lot harder to get to the Brew area this year. Black Mount Logging removed a 20 m long bridge over Roe Creek last week. The VOC... and Federation of Mountain Clubs have been discussing this access issue with Recreation Sites and Trails BC, the District Manager and the Black Mount for a few months. Unfortunately we couldn't convince them to keep the old bridge there. There is a possibility of having a new bridge built but a lot of work is needed to get funding. See more

I just posted Bryan Sexauer's new topo for Ocean's Wall on the Free Topos page of the Quickdraw Publications website (look for it under the heading "Sea Cliffs"). Bryan posted this to the Squamish Rock Climbing page the other day and it looks like the new routes are a great addition to an already unique area. He provides good information about the water approach and landing situation, which is key to visiting this area. This seems like a worthy cliff to keep on your radar for the colder season. Thanks for the work, Bryan! https://quickdrawpublications.com/free-topos/

Hello fellow climbers. Hopefully you are enjoying the last of this fine fall weather! While we know that many tens of thousands of Canadians are financially suf...fering during this pandemic we have also seen the amount of recreational pursuits going up in a huge way across our province. Many of you are travelling between communities and working from off-sites in order to maximize this situation. Great idea if you can swing it. Have you considered making a donation to the communities that support your sport? SCARS set up an Anchor replacement fund last fall. To date we have only received 7 donations (3 this year) totaling $385. We know that there are 3300 members on this page and hundreds of you have visited the Skaha Bluffs this year. If you are unable to bolt or replace anchors yourself, please consider donating to this fund. Placing and replacing hardware on routes is a very time consuming process. Don't expect the financial cost to fall on the volunteer as well. $25 can cover the cost of an anchor. Give back a little; either with your volunteer time or a donation. Thanks! See more

Also, I've been updating the guidebook supplements for Squamish Select and Squamish Hiking fairly regularly due to lots of changes and activity. Find these documents at the top of the Free Topos page: https://quickdrawpublications.com/free-topos/

As a follow-up to the previous post, Nick McNutt has sent us a mini-guide to some boulder problems at the new Shannon Springs Wall. It looks like it's worth bringing a crashpad along with your rack! A big thanks to Nick McNutt for sending us a topo for his new crag, Shannon Springs Wall, which is located just north of Shannon Falls. The day has finally arrived! I've turned on website ordering for the new Squamish Select (4th Edition) guidebook since the shipment is set to hit our warehouse in Squamish tomorrow, June 10th. Print and e-book ordering is available, but if you want a discount on the e-book you have to bundle it with the print guide (choose "bundle and save") and order it directly off our website. Either way, you can avoid the shipping charge if you choose to pick up your copy in Squamish. I hope you all enjoy the new book and a big thanks to everyone who helped! https://quickdrawpublications.com/product/squamish-select-4/

Thanks to Chris Phillips for sending us a topo for "Covid Crag", the wall adjacent to the south end of the Wonderland mountain bike trail. Although this cliff had been climbed on in the past, it had never been documented. If anyone has prior information, please let us know. Chris has done a nice job of renovating some of the decaying routes. The rock on the upper half of this cliff is awesome - you've got to see it to understand... Look for the topo under the Garibaldi Estates heading on the Free Topos page. https://quickdrawpublications.com/free-topos/

A big thanks to Kris Wild for sending through information on his new Apron route, Born Again (10b). This full-height route is one of the best protected 5.10s on the Apron and is bound to be popular. It wasn't ready in time for the new edition of Squamish Select, but we've mocked up a topo based on the page it would have been on. Download the Born Again topo from the Chief section of the Free Topos page: https://quickdrawpublications.com/free-topos/

Quickdraw Publications 29.06.2020

I just posted a topo to the Free Topos page of the website for the new Golden Gate crag behind Slhanay and located off the Shannon Creek Branch FSR (the backside road to the gondola). This crag hosts a number of quality, short 5.10 multi-pitch climbs in a peaceful, scenic setting - the reviews so far have been excellent. Thanks to Toby Foord-Kelcey for preparing the topo and sharing it and a big thanks to Harry Young for creating, yet again, another high quality Squamish climbing venue. What a machine! Look for the topo under the "Shannon Falls" heading. https://quickdrawpublications.com/free-topos/

For those that are interested, the new (fourth) edition of Squamish Select is complete and has been sent to the printers. Due to delays caused by the pandemic, I expect to have it in early June, but I'll post updates if that timeline changes. Once the book's arrival is imminent, I'll activate sales on the website so people can pre-order the print guide or purchase the e-book version. The new book is 500 pages, up from 370 in the third edition - there is a ton of new stuff to do! These are strange times, to be sure, but hopefully this new book will get people super psyched to get back out there once the restrictions have been lifted. Thanks to all the people who helped me on this two-year journey. Your input, editing and encouragement was invaluable.

Quickdraw Publications 05.06.2020

There are only a few approved trails negotiated and approved by the property owners. The trail under the power lines, the Canoe Trail thru the gully and the higher trail that leads to Kids Cliff and beyond. All trails to climbing are accessed through private property, please be respectful to ensure continued access. We will be posting trail signs and online maps as the weather improves. Jim Harvey was kind enough to send us the following road report on October 30th: "Did the drive up to the Seed Peak parking today. That road is definitely deteriorating with the alders closing in. Thank God I have an old truck with plenty of scratches. There are two wash-outs on the main road past Crawford Creek both requiring a good 4x4 to get past. We didn't have much time to explore the alpine but it is an awesome area requiring a return trip." This is good information for those wishing to access Seed Peak and Pinecone Burke Provincial Park. It's do-able...for now, anyway. This update is also posted on the Squamish Hiking guidebook page.

I just posted a topo for a slab at Murrin Park called "The Garden of Gethsemane". It's by the Welcome to Squamish sign and has a bunch of new climbs.

Quickdraw Publications 14.03.2019

It has come to our attention that a number of near misses have occurred on Star Chek in the past few years. These are the result of climbers trundling rocks off the top of the climb onto people leading below. For this reason, the top-down approach described in Squamish Select is no longer recommended. Instead, approaching from below is advised. Please download the update PDF for Squamish Select on the guidebook page of the website for more details.

Quickdraw Publications 02.03.2019

I just added a topo for The Pilot's Lounge near Slhanay to the Free Downloads page of the website. Looks like some quality new routes!
