Artist Spotlight; Carol Holmes-Kerr Pottery I want my creations to feel good in your hands and, when possible, make you smile. Carol has been making functional and decorative pottery for over 20 years. Having worked professionally as a nurse and counsellor for most of her life, she knew there was something missing. That something was using her imagination and creative self. ... She took her first pottery course in 1989. She loved the feel of the clay in her hands and the endless possibilities of how this medium can be used. Soon she was hooked! Since then, she has never stopped learning, taking many classes and workshops with master potters. Ten years ago she started teaching wheel and hand building classes and currently teaches from her home and at Hintonburg Pottery on Wellington Street in Ottawa. She does her own work in her small home studio and glazes and fires with other potters who have their own kilns. Her tableware pieces are one-a-kind and durable. Her decorative work, some of which is functional as well, often have their own narrative, which is intended to evoke a smile. Each piece is unique.
