If there is anything that this wildly unpredictable year has revealed, it’s that nothing can shake our heart for this house. We mean that. Our heart is still for the house of God and the people that inhabit it - and those who are to come. This Sunday is Heart for the House Sunday, and we couldn’t be more excited to DREAM with you for 2021. We’ll also be taking a special offering, the only one we take all year long, that allows us to take a leap forward together in fulfilling ...the vision God has given us as a church. 2020 has been wild, but God has been faithful. Simply put, they are small groups of people practicing the way of Jesus together. They're beautiful, they're powerful, and all they're missing is YOU. BEHIND THE PHOTO: What you don't see is a child running with great excitement towards an RKids leader, reaching to see the world from his shoulders. What you don't see is an adult willingly pausing his conversation, allowing himself to be interrupted by a child's desire for connection. What you don't hear are the child's shrieks of laughter as she laughs with an adult that she loves. What you don't hear is the fact that he is laughing along, too. The sound behind this photo i...s one of great joy. This is what we imagine God is like. We can run to him, with childlike excitement and wonder, and He will stop what He is doing to place us on His shoulders. He is forever interrupt-able, a Father that longs to spend time with us in joyous connection. "He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. And he said: Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 18:2-4 (NIV)

Who else jotted this quote down during Pastor Helen's message on Sunday? What an incredible reminder for when the waters rise and we find ourselves in challenging moments. As you go about your day, remember this: You've survived 100% of the days you've lived. And that's a beautiful thing.

Life is weird. We'll worship anyway. Life is wonderful. We'll worship anyway. Life is hard. We'll worship anyway. Life is beautiful. We'll worship anyway. Life is challenging. We'll worship anyway.... No matter what comes our way, we'll worship anyway. For it is only in God that true strength and purpose is found. What are you worshipping through today?

OUR CONVICTIONS (5/5): PRACTICE OVER PROGRAMS We have a few convictions as a church - guidelines that inform what we do and what we stand for. The fifth is PRACTICE OVER PROGRAMS. This is a new conviction that’s been solidified in this season. Our desire is to do life together with daily and weekly rhythms, patterns of life that anchor us. We’re practicing what it is to be the church, to practice the way of Jesus, in our everyday lives. We wouldn’t have it any other way.

OUR CONVICTIONS (4/5): SPIRIT OVER STRUCTURE We have a few convictions as a church - guidelines that inform what we do and what we stand for. The second is SPIRIT OVER STRUCTURE. We’re here for that which only God can do. Every time we get together, we expect God’s Spirit to move. We see a church alive with the gifts of the spirit - where people are free, healed, and encouraged. We aren’t so much about religion as we are about relationships, and so it’s important to us to carve out time for God’s presence. We desire to see His power, and so we’re following where He leads us. As we pray for God to heal our land we are committed to humble ourselves, pray, seek His face, and repent of the ways we’ve done life apart from Him.

OUR CONVICTIONS (3/5): ALIGNMENT OVER AGREEMENT We have a few convictions as a church - guidelines that inform what we do and what we stand for. The second is ALIGNMENT OVER AGREEMENT. We aren’t always going to agree on everything. We’ll have different theological, social, and political views, and that is a good thing. We believe that the banner of love is wide enough to cover our differences, and allow us to actually celebrate them. God made each one of us in His image. He calls us one body, one family. He told us to love one another, as He has loved us so sacrificially and graciously. The only way forward is together.

What do you do when you have faith, but no feels? You know God is there, but you feel like He’s distant. You’ve felt the richness of His presence before but, right now, that feels like a far away memory. We’ve all been there and, if you’re there right now: you’re not alone. Pastor Angela preached a beautiful, practical message all about this on Sunday, and it’s a word we’ll return to again and again.
