With the travel issues surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic it has difficult to do site visits of potential projects, and I certainly wouldn't ask any of our helpers or volunteers to take the risk. It's been a long time coming, but we've finally finished a project started before the world shut down. This is Plan 1478 modeled after an apartment house in Bremen, Germany. Vancouver Island has the opportunity to restore an unparalleled part of Vancouver Island history, to present some of the most beautiful scenery in the world, and at the same time, re-create a rapid transit system linking the extremes of this 31,285 sq. km island. Although these Homes are over 87 times larger than my scale models, I am fascinated with the Tiny Home movement and how much efficiency can be packed in to a small space. The following is a reflection of my opinions and understandings of a situation and is not intended as a legal contention of facts: I am really getting tired of these! My website attracts thousands of hobbyists from around the world, and whether it's to order scaled plans or just to look at the photos, I am pleased with the popularity. Unfortunately, that popularity also attracts scammers. Google Search ranking is tied somewhat to the number and quality of links from legitim...ate websites back to the subjects' website. In this case, the subject website is partsgeek . com. They have likely been taken in by a 'Black Hat' Search Engine promotion business that claims to increase search engine ranking. Unfortunately, they don't fully explain how they plan to do this. In this case, it's 'Michelle' and 'Hannah' working on a school project on Trolleys and Streetcars. Last week it was "Susan' and 'Jane'. Next week it will be 'Bobby' and 'Jack' working on a Boy Scouts project. Years ago, when I received the first of these, my benevolence overpowered my skepticism and I published the requested link. After I received subsequent requests in exactly the same format I got wise. A quick look at the requested link, and some common sense, will tell you that partsgeek . com doesn't have much to do with model railroading, and publishing related stories doesn't have much to do with their business. I don't claim to be an expert on Black Hat SEO, or scamming in general, but I think that what these scammers do is create or 'borrow' various content on different subjects, and tuck them in to sub-directories on the 'marks' website. I am trying to get in touch with someone from Partsgeek to see if they are aware of their hire using these tactics. Feel free to share this with other online businesses. I would like to see the end of all deceptive Internet related tactics. See more

Keep your spirits up and look after your mental health during these difficult times. If you have children, pay special attention to them. They take in more than you might think.

Medical professionals believe that there is a strong relationship between mental health and physical health. Dr. Brock Chisholm, former Director-General of the World Health Organization, said that without mental health there can be no true physical health. How much this relates to the Covid 19 crisis I am not sure, but I know that many of you have endured significant hardships in life, including war, family and personal losses, and health issues, and you have endured and p...erhaps come out emotionally or spiritually stronger. I know that many of you are worried, as I am, about this almost unprecedented situation. I can offer no qualified medical advice, but as a layman I can encourage you to try to do the things that you enjoy, within the parameters of social distancing, personal protection, and other authoritative recommendations, whether it be gardening, reading, model building, painting or whatever. Although you may be limited in what you can do for your physical health, you can continue to foster your emotional wellbeing. I may feel powerless in this global fight, but I will attempt to enjoy life to the best of my ability, given these times, so that at least the psychological aspect of the Covid 19 threat doesn’t beat me.
