One of the first of its kind in Canada, Fenelon Falls' Senior Play Park at the Lloyd Kelly Parkette celebrated its grand opening last night. The free park is an... accessible recreation space that promotes exercise and an active lifestyle for older residents. With action stations that foster mobility and agility, the Seniors Play Park is an opportunity for residents to come together and stay active while being social in their community. The Park has a rubber ground surface, made of 2,000 recycled car tires, which is a non-slip and eco-friendly surface that the groups involved thought would be a welcomed feature by all using the space. Single female home ownership is on the rise, making them the second largest home buying demographic in Canada, after married couples. In 2018, 18 per cent of a...ll home buyers were single women, with single men only making up nine per cent of property buyers, she said. Married couples still dominate the market, making up just under 63 per cent of home sales. http://ow.ly/Rry350yc1tV

Tomorrow is Bell Lets Talk Day. They began the conversation about mental health in 2010 with the intention of de-stigmatizing mental health by putting a name and face to mental health issues. Please support Bell this Wednesday January 30. https://letstalk.bell.ca/en/bell-lets-talk-day

More than 150,000 people in southern Ontario -- including thousands in the Kawarthas -- experienced power outages as a result of the wind storm yesterday (May 4...). Two deaths in Hamilton and in Milton were also reported. A Hamilton man in his 50s was electrocuted after trying to clear downed hydro wires from a roadway. In Milton, a 28-year-old man died and an 18-year-old man experienced life-threatening injuries after a tree fell on them; the two worked for a tree servicing company that was clearing fallen branches from utility wires for Milton Hydro. As a cold front moved through southern Ontario yesterday, Environment Canada recorded wind gusts up to 120 kilometres per hour. The strong winds caused significant damage including downed trees, damaged roofs, and broken or leaning hydro poles. Municipal utility companies and Hydro One were kept extremely busy responding to reported power outages. Thousands of people remain without power while crews repair the damage. Hydro One customers can check the status of outages at the Hydro One Storm Center website at http://www.hydroone.com/StormCenter3/. My name is Hailey, I am a Law Clerk student at Durham College, in my second year. Im lucky to get to be a part of the McNamara team, and Im excited to be returning in the fall for my third year placement. Working in Shawn McNamaras office has been an amazing experience. Everybody in the office is always eager to help anyone with anything they can. The atmosphere is very welcoming, no matter who walks through the door they are greeted with smiling faces. Durham Colleges La...w Clerk Advanced program has prepared me immensely for coming into a law office; With my prior knowledge and this opportunity I now have a great understanding on how to complete many of the documents needed to assist Kathy, who is the Senior Family Law Clerk. This opportunity has also better prepared me for many other aspects of working in a law office, including client and file management and courthouse filing procedures. This has been an amazing opportunity and I look forward to seeing all your smiling faces again in September!
