Our committee has received feedback from both the Archdiocese as well as the city. We are currently working on their requests.
Update The community graveyard committee has met several times and made numerous calls to move this project forward. We have a meeting set with city planning and we have been asked to write a letter of intent to the archdiocese. This is a big project but it is being advanced due to dedicated volunteers.
Make your opinion heard in person regarding the cemetery at the community center. Today-Friday from 10a-3pm.
IMPORTANT POLL We are in discussion with the city regarding the graveyard, and we need to present viable numbers of people that will use the service in order to continue with the progression of this project. If you have a family member who does not use social media, please let them know that we will be having our committee members at the community center from 10a-3pm on January 15, 16 and 17 for them to input their vote in person... Our committee has met for the first time and we have some information on the shea heights cemetary. This is what we have learned so far: All cemeteries in St John's are administered by one of the archdiocese. The previous open air market is one of our main locations and appears to be city property(confirmed soon). We are presently researching with the city and the archdiocese to move this project forward.... Due to the season, it may be difficult to get answers quickly, but this group of volunteers have agreed to give up some time to make it better for all. Stay tuned
The community as a hole was very supportive of the idea of having our own cemetery, and we have come together to do our best to make that idea a reality. Here is where you will find all updates on the process, as well as some questions regarding the cemetery. We appreciate any feedback on any matters and we hope to have some answers on the progression of this big project in the new year!...
