We often get asked if we take dogs out in groups to walk. When we have SOCIAL dogs we are happy to take them out to enjoy each other. Since we are a small kennel, we do not always have social dogs to mix. We take a lot of dogs that are selective, defensive or aggressive. Nothing is wrong with that! Our goal is to make sure all the dogs here are kept safe and happy. If taking them out individually is the way to do that, we are more then happy to do so. Just be realistic in what your dog sociability is, manage appropriately and everyone is safe and happy. Remember dogs don't NEED other dogs to be happy.

The dreaded teenage years! Don’t worry! Follow these steps and you can prevent a whole host of adolescent issues! Don’t forget they’re still young! Our teenag...e puppies get big FAST! It can be easy to forget that they still have a lot of growing and developing to do. It takes a lot of time to build really strong habits and learn about the world. Don’t go too fast. Ditch the food bowl. Most pet dogs are chronically bored. An easy way to remedy this (and help prevent shall we say, creative methods of entertainment) is to completely ditch the food bowl and feed entirely via games and training. Put all that youthful energy to good use! Keep challenging them It can be easy to keep working on the same things, or playing it safe with training. Give your pup mental challenges. Enroll in a sport class like nosework or rally, or simply train more elaborate tricks. Teach them that getting stuck into problems is rewarding. Make sure they rest Again, they are still growing and developing. And they tend to be VERY bad at boundaries. Make sure nap time is still scheduled, and that you give mental and physical rest to your dog. They need time to process what they’ve learned and to build strong muscle and bone! Want to know more?
