The St. George’s Fire Department (SGFD) would like to send a heart warmed thank you to Theodore Bennett for his duties as chief over an eight year period! He performed an outstanding job!! We would like to welcome Toby White as he steps up and takes the position of Chief! Theodore has 30 years with the department and continues as a volunteer into 2021. We value his experience as we possibly face new challenges during this time.... Thank you both for your volunteer service!!!
SGFD would like to send a heart filled Happy New Year to your family’s from ours! Please be safe as we ring in 2021!
SGFD would like to remember those who lost their lives in the tragic event. We remember the 343 Firefighters from the FDNY, 60 Police Officers from the NYPD, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Police Department, and 8 Paramedics who lost their lives in the line of duty. We as First Responders run into danger while everyone else runs out. We would also remember all the innocent victims from this tragedy. May we never forget. SGFD

The fire has cons...umed about 90 hectares and the winds are up in this area but NO rain and we would like lots. The crews will be here working this stubborn fire for a while yet. Just a reminder not to be parking on the TCH as safety of everyone is our concern See more

Just a update on the wild fire. Port aux Basques RCMP, Fire Services and the Codroy Valley Fire Department are responding to a forest fire approximately 10 kilometres from the community of South Branch. Helicopters and water bombers are operating in the area. Police are warning motorists on the Trans Canada Highway in the area to exercise caution and to not stop on the side of the highway to observe the fire and related activity. Doing so can create a safety hazard for motorists and first responders. Thank you for your cooperation.
Please slow down and pull over for flashing lights!
SGFD would like to send out a friendly reminder that the recent pandemic is not over. Please keep in mind that we as first responders are ready when needed Please call 647-7777 with any emergency. Thank you and stay safe
Please everyone report any tips, even if they don’t seem important! Let’s help these young boys get home.
SGFD would like to wish everyone a Happy Canada Day. Enjoy and play safe
SGFD would like to remind people when working in these hot temperatures, to have frequent breaks and drink lots fluids. If you feel dizzy, nauseous and or tired you should get out of the sun/heat and seek assistance from a family member or medical attention. Thank you to all and have a great day!!
Did you know that for many emergency incidents, more than one emergency service provider (ESP) may need to respond? When you call 911, our 911 Call Takers are t...rained to transfer you to the ESP you need for dispatch of help, and depending on the type of emergency they will also notify other ESPs who may need to respond. Find out more about the province-wide 911 system here: www.nl911.ca #knowthenumber
A great way to check your propane cylinder is to wet a side of the cylinder with water, after a while the used top part will be dry while the lower part with gas will remain wet. The wet portion tells you the amount of gas left. Thank you !
SGFD would like to send out a Happy Fathers Day to all the fellow Fathers!
