Holy Liturgy begins at 10 a.m. Those celebrating can bring their feast cakes and grain starting at 8a.m. until the beginning of the Liturgy and after the Liturgy no later than 11:30 a.m.... Social distancing and mask protocols will be observed. #Serbia and the #RepublicOfSrpska are marking 25 years since the persecution of #Serbs in the Croatian genocidal military operation "Storm", when about 250,000 ...Serbs were forcibly expelled from their homes and almost 2,000 were killed in northern #Dalmatia, #Lika, #Banija and #Kordun. In the action that began on August 4, with a massive operation of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia, with the support of NATO, as well as units of the Croatian Defense Council and the Army of BiH, aggression was carried out against the Serb population in the mentioned areas. The aggression occurred despite the fact that the area was under UN protection, and that the representatives of the Republic of Serbian Krajina in Geneva and Belgrade accepted the international community's proposal for a peaceful solution. It was noted that the then President of Croatia, Franjo Tudjman, clearly defined the goal of the operation, saying that "such blows should be inflicted on Serbs so that they practically disappear from these areas." The first-instance verdict of the Hague Tribunal, in April 2011, assessed that "Storm" was a joint criminal enterprise, led by the then President Tudjman, whose goal was "forced and permanent removal of the Serb population and settlement of that area by Croats". The tribunal then handed down a second-instance verdict in 2012, acquitting Croatian generals responsible for ethnic cleansing. One of the indicators of the extent of ethnic cleansing is the fact that before the war, Serbs made up over 80% of the population of the city of Knin, while in the years after the war there were only slightly more than 10%. Today the Serbian Orthodox Church celebrates #Vidovdan or the Day of the light. This day is marked in the church calendar as the commemorative day of the Holy P...rince Lazar and the Serbian holy martyrs (http://bit.ly/294VqhH), who gave their lives for the defense of the motherland during the Battle of #Kosovo on 28 June 1389. For those who don't know, Vid or Svetovid was considered the supreme deity of the Old Slavs, the god who sees everything. He was "the God of all gods", while all the others were demigods. After the Battle of Kosovo, there have been stories that later became legends that talk of fairies called Rusalke, girls and fiancees of the Serbian knights killed in the battle. According to belief, they appear one day before Vidovdan and roam the woods from dawn until dusk, mourning the death of Prince Lazar and his knights.
